Hawaii GOP candidate linked to movement that calls for burning pics of Virgin Mary, ‘evil cats’
A video linking the Republican candidate for governor in Hawaii to an evangelical religious group became a center of controversy this week when his Democratic opponent's social media director called attention to it with a Twitter link.

"Is Aiona lying about his ties 2 the Transformation Network..or did he just misspeak again and again..?" L.P. Neenz Faleafine tweeted on Monday.

James "Duke" Aiona immediately accused Neil Abercrombie's campaign of "spreading what I would call unconscionable, fabricated video attacking me and my personal faith."

...

The group at the center of the controversy is the International Transformation Network (ITN), which is known for its promotion of "prayer evangelism," a movement within the religious right that prays for a change in the "spiritual climate" of entire cities. The movements has gained particular notoriety, however, for its demands that its followers burn "occult Items," a description which includes the Book of Mormon, "images of the Virgin Mary" and "evil depictions" of cats.

8. Yeah, you know how sometimes when you put the Book of Mormon on your kitchen table
with a picture of the Virgin Mary plus a couple of evil depictions of cats, and then, like, before you know it, the lightbulb over the stove has burned out, and then all the milk in the fridge suddenly goes sour, and then you discover you're out of aluminum foil, and then the faucet on the sink breaks off and there's a geyser of water, so you have to stop watching the toaster and the toast catches on fire, and the doorbell and phone ring at the same time? That's why

6. The International Transformation Network is very bad news.
They are hardcore theocrats. I already knew about their hatred of the Virgin Mary, because she is an aspect of the Queen of Heaven, who they consider THE major "demon." In other words--they recognize the Goddess for what she is and despise ANY form of feminist spirituality.

The cats are a new one on me, though. I'll make sure to keep my black kitty Isis as far away from them as possible, especially on Halloween.

It began as a plan for a secret mission that would take place high in the Himalayas. Twenty six people traveled from locations around the world including, Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Vietnam, and the United States, and met for the mission in 1997. For three weeks the teams split and made preparations at base camps at 13,000 and 18,000 feet on Mt. Everest. Then the teams began the last dangerous ascent to make an assault on their target.

"Our assignment from God was to take down the foundations of The Great Babylon, the harlot over many waters, who supported the false systems of the world. God clearly showed us where we should go for our main prophetic act by revealing a large, brown stone formation, completely surrounded by walls of ice resembling a castle and shaped exactly like an idol of the Queen of Heaven! This seat of the Mother of the Universe was 20,000 feet high, and to get there we had to cross the ice fall, the most dangerous par of the Everest ascent, with no guide but Him and no help from anyone else other than the angels."

Quote from Ana Mendez, Special Task Coordinator, World Prayer Center
C. Peter Wagner, Confronting the Queen of Heaven, Colorado Springs, Wagner Publications, 2001. p.51

After the mission they reported that they barely escaped with their lives.

God told us to leave the camp before 11am, because it was going to be destroyed. We left the camp at 10:30. When we had all reached safety, one of the largest avalanches on record occurred on all three mountainsides around the camp - Everest, Loh-La and Nuptse. The camp was completely destroyed, and the climbing season had to be cancelled. The only flag left on Everest was for Jesus, the King of Kings.
