There IS an apology owed in the Hill-Thomas issue...but not to Clarence Thomas |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-22-10 05:37 AM by Ken Burch
It's the apology that Joe Biden and EVERY OTHER white male Democratic senator on the Judiciary Committee owes to Anita Hill for NOT supporting her against the right-wing hate machine, and for not calling the OTHER three women to the stand who were willing to corroborate Dr. Hill's testimony. They abandoned Ms. Hill, a person they should have stood behind with all their might, and gained nothing for it.
No good came to this party or to any part of the "big picture" when the Majority members of the committee, men who should have felt obligated to defend Anita Hill as passionately as the GOP attacked her, hung that courageous woman out to dry.
We'd have taken the White House in 1992 even if they HAD done the right thing in those hearings.

1. One of the key apologies actually has been made ... |
|
David Brock sent his apology to Anita Hill (documented in "Blinded By The Right") for not only believing everything that the reichies said, but for all the shi* he made up. She took the better part of valor and didn't comment.
However, this was long before he came public with his conversion.

2. That makes it even MORE damning |
|
One of the most virulent attackers of Dr. Hill has apologized, but Biden and the rest of the gutless wonders that were supposed to represent OUR values on that committee still haven't?
It's time for Biden and the rest to openly admit they were wrong to abandon Anita Hill under fire.

3. Not dismissing the inaction ... just pointing out that the point man on |
|
the attacks has admitted making so much shit up that the Repugs put forth as TRUTH.
Plus, it exposes one really hilarious Rush Limbaugh quote (may not be exact): "This is the most well-researched book there is ..."
