Republican majority vs Democratic majority-an illustration |
|
Let's take a look at some simple numbers.
109th Congress (Republican President, both houses with a Republican majority.)
Senate: Final voting share-Reps: 55% Dems: 45%
House: Final voting share-Reps: 53.0% Dems: 47.0%
111th Congress: (Democratic President, both houses with a Democratic majority.)
Senate: Latest voting share-Dems: 59% Reps: 41%
House: Latest voting share-Dems: 58.9% Reps: 41.1%
(All numbers are from Wikipedia).
----
So the Republicans can say "Fuck you, we're in charge and we will do what we want!" when THEY are in power, but when the Democrats are in power-all of a sudden it's about "bipartisanship" and "pragmatism" and "we can't let the perfect be the enemy of the good."
This is really just sad and depressing on so many levels.
