NYT doesn't let their reporters go on talk radio |
|
listen to some right-wing talk radio for a while and you'll hear reporters invited on from mainstream outlets, but you won't hear reporters from the NYT.
If you want to understand the NYT's reasoning, listen to what happens when these people go on, for example, the Hugh Hewitt show. He's got Candy Crowley from CNN, Mark Halperin from ABC, Howard Kurtz from CNN and Wash. Post, and Chris Cillizza from the Wash Post, and a whole big bunch from Politico of course.
The host butters them up, plugs all their shit, and in return, they pretty much endorse whatever GOP talking points the host throws at them. Oh, they pretend to be reasonable, just like Juan Williams, but they end up giving their stamp of approval to the GOP spin. And therefore implying the CNN, ABC, Washington Post's stamp of approval.
NYT doesn't want any part of that, to their credit. Same with NPR.

It's time reporters/news analysts decide if they want to be reporters/news analysts or opinion givers/pundits.
It's just another side effect of the 24 hour news cycle. Reporters love to be on TV and they tend to jump at the chance even if it screws with every ethical issue they were supposed to have been taught in J School.

2. Considering the huge decline of quality at the NYT over the |
|
last few decades, the reason the reporters are not allowed on, may not be what you think...
