Rep. Meek Tells Rubio to Strap on His Chin Strap - Asking Democrats to Come Home to Their Party

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- During a visit to Tallahassee on Friday, Meek said he and independent candidate Charlie Crist have been playing a game of chicken in recent weeks on the question of who might get out of the race so Republican Marco Rubio can be defeated on Election Day.

Meek says he's the only candidate who can dethrone Rubio because he appeals to Democrats and moderates on the issues: opposed to offshore oil drilling, a strong commitment to green initiatives, and he supports a woman's right to choose an abortion.

"I believe that it's very, very important that people get inspired behind my campaign to be able to defeat not only Marco Rubio, but defeat the right-wing ideology that he represents."

The three senate candidates are scheduled to debate on Sunday morning on CNN. Meek says Rubio better buckle on his chin strap because Meek says he's feeling the spirit of a linebacker.

2. Cliches aren't going to shift this election...
Meek's been stalled at 21% for nearly a month. If he's serious about staying in, he needs to come up with some hard-hitting advertising or some bold new proposals.
