Obama wants teacher 'accountability'

<edit>

Calling for a "new culture of accountability" in schools, Mr. Obama proposed building on rather than replacing the No Child Left Behind education law signed by President Bush. But Mr. Obama said it's time to put more money, better tracking of teachers' performance, higher standards and real accountability behind the law.

"Let me be clear: If a teacher is given a chance, or three chances, but still does not improve, there is no excuse for that person to continue teaching," the president said. "I reject a system that rewards failure and protects a person from its consequences."

1. I'm sure
that his new National Security Advisor, the former Goldman Sachs lobbyist, will get right on that accountability thing.

5. Yes, a teacher needs to get the same results...
every year, despite having an entirely different group of children with an entirely different set of needs and skill levels and personal issue affecting how they learn and work. And if a teacher is unable to do that with the same level of skill and consistency every year, and in 9 months time not only learn the needs of those 10-20 (if they are lucky) kids but get them to perform exceedingly well on a standardized test, then they should be punished.

This is sarcasm by the way.

6. Not a chance. Teachers are the enemy.
The military, regardless of it's corruption, abuses, and crimes, is valued.
