I just got phone polled by PPP

Very comprehensive multiple choice 'push the button' phone poll. Covered the California Governors and Senate races, and favorable/unfavorable ratings of all of the current candidates/incumbents, as well as for Obama and Schwarzenegger. It also asked about Prop 19, the marijuana legalization initiative here.

At the end it took all of my demographics. I'm looking forward to seeing the results of this one.

1. You answered you phone? You don't have caller id...
I don't ever answer my landline if I don't know who it is..
That's why I think polls are worthless as I don't know anyone who does.

2. I do have caller ID, but they were persistent.

As in calling every day for the last few days, multiple times a day. I finally got tired of it and picked it up; with every intention of having the opposite of a nice polite chat.

I was very pleasantly surprised at that point to have it be a political poll. :D

3. One evening last spring, I didn't answer a call
I didn't even bother to look at Caller ID until later, and it said, "Gallup." I don't know if they were selecting geographically, but I may have missed a chance to have my input counted in a major national poll, rather than some freeperbagger from my red area. :(

4. Oh God, if that ever happens again, TAKE IT! Gallup tends to skew CONservative.
Your one little voice would represent tens of thousands of Americans, and the widely-reported results would be a little more accurate and far less likely to be another free hand-job to the republi-CONS.

6. That shows that PPP is a good pollster (as opposed to Rasmussen, which calls once on one night).
Rasmussen ends up with a huge non-response bias, which they have to fix by heavy weighting according to party/demographics/etc. This makes their polls somewhat stable (due to the weighting), but their relative accuracy is anyone's guess.

7. How did they identify themselves on your caller ID?
PPP or something else?

Not very helpful. :(

11. It took me three days to pick up because of that.

I was getting pretty irritated with them, before I knew who it was.

8. Zogby sent me an email poll about the election
Most times, when I get these political polls once I say STRONG Democrat it pops up and says they have enough people taking the poll. Now if it is political when do they cut off the poll.

This time with Zogby they asked all the questions about who I am voting for, do I trust Democrats or republicans etc. And it took me all he way to the end FOR ONCE.
