Do you think it was worth it? The six year looting by right-wingers.
These last six or seven years we have seen a different kind of looting. We're all too familiar with the t.v. images of the looting that comes in the wake of a race riot and we spotted the hypocrisy in the media with the Katrina looting, but there has been a far more damaging looting taking place all across this country in the last six years and the media is only superficially reporting this information as it trickles out of the Congressional hearings.

They need to give it the same attention and soundbite that they do for all the other looting that takes place in this country. Call it the Republican Looters -- Day X, the "X" representing the days they've spent on the investigation. That's what I would like to see. Let's put the word "Republican" next to a descriptive word, like "Looters." That certainly would wake up a few sleepy heads.

So, they've looted our treasury, our resources and our goodwill. You KNOW some of them are going to get away with it. So I wonder, for those who will escape notice, do you think that they feel it was worth it?

3. That's the easy answer.
I just wish we could get some testimonials. I suspect they think that the risks they took were worth it, but, until someone points out to them that what they did put this country in a far worse position, and their selfishness was a big part of it, well, until then, your answer is the obvious one.

7. They don't care what they did to America or Iraq
It wasn't about helping people...it was about their bottom-line. They will not respond to "you hurt the country" ...because they don't care and they'll tell you that they helped the country.

You won't get a testimonial stating "I did it for the money", even though it's true...you'll get a testimonial on how they were providing a necessary service to their country in a time of need. They'll call themselves patriots.

9. I think Wolfowitz revealed their true colors.
In the end, it was all about the Golden parachute.

and those anti-Bushers (which they'll equate to anti-American) attacking Comb Licker because he's American and a Bushie.

Sure, it won't work on all people - but it doesn't have to work on all people...just enough people.

16. Off-tangent question.
Just asking for your opinion on this. Why is it okay to call Wolfowitz a comb-licker, but not say that Charlie Crist is getting himself a beard? I posted that he was getting a girlfriend and the thread just died on the vine when I worded it that he was getting a beard.

Just curious.

Have to do with your post about a beard?

Don't go thinking that comb licking is a euphemism for anything other than - actually licking a comb.

You have NO idea <or maybe you do now> what I thought DUers meant when they called him a comb licker.

I'm hiding in shame.

2. sadly, many do seem to think it's worth it
I guess looting is acceptable if it's done by rich and powerful (mostly) white guys.

5. Truer words were never spoken.
It is endemic where I live. The added twist is that once things go badly for them, they quickly put in a minority member, like a Gonzalez or even a Powell to throw us off for a little while. But only, for a little while.

4. Why did this happen?
Because they saw the growing surpluses in the Treasury and they wanted it. The rich make out very well when the country is running huge deficits. All their talk about balanced budgets is just palaver.

8. I still can't believe how easily Cheney managed to filter that money
into his Halliburton company and got those fortresses built in Iraq, and now he's in position to hire the Blackwater mercenaries to man them should we pull out.

How can this country be so stupid?

11. So, maybe the intention was to get a swollen treasury in place that COULD BE PLUNDERED
once their 'Pearl Harbor' was enacted. That way the distribution of real money to the elite could be accomplished with greater ease and swiftness.

21. Well, the story floated many years ago is that Greenspan is the one who advised

Clinton to not pursue the outstanding matters in BCCI as it would threaten the world economy to have the facts exposed. And Clinton must have trusted Greenspan on that since he followed that advice.

Very disappointing for those of us who loyally and staunchly defended Clinton all these many years to not even receive, via Bill's book, even one word of explanation on those decisions re BushInc's crimes of office.

12. How Much Is Enough?.........
Greed!!!!!!!!! Power!!!!!!!!

I ask the question - how much is enough?

Yes - our collective pockets have been picked. Looting by the Repugs & *CO and the Looting by the Oil Companies.

Don't they have enough already? What are they going to do with all the $ they've looted. They can't possibly spend it all in their lifetimes.

And then there's the other looting that's going on - the looting of our Constitution.

When will they stop? What are they trying to achieve? Don't they know that they have to live in this same world as we?

Enough is enough already.
