Voting for the lesser of two evils
Is still voting for evil.

I really wish more democrats had something besides "they're worse than us!" to campaign on. The more they turn up the negative campaigning, the less I'm compelled to vote FOR any of them. Whatever happened to having a damn plan and explaining it clearly? What will they do Nov 3rd to address xxxxxx issue? Bitch about republicans?

Yes, yes, I know all of the usual replies:
"But the republicans do it!"
"The media!"
"Why don't you go write Palin a love letter?!"
"Now is not a good time."
"Nader's fault."
"Unrec."

Save it.

I want "actually good" instead of "not quite as bad," so I want the democrats running to make some kind of cohesive attempt at actually being better. After all, what the hell is a political party for if not coordinating the actions of a bunch of politicians? From what I see, the democratic leadership is nothing more than a collection of factions, trying to gain power over one another by tearing each other down. The result has been that they're all weak and scattered, and the party as a whole spends next to zero effort on achieving anything past election day.

How about we all make a direct attempt at changing the democratic leadership?

2. I'm getting really tired of voting against candidates instead of voting for them, myself. But that
seems to be how the system is working out. :(

5. This particular cycle, I'm voting for good people I actually like
and against Republicans ranging from merely awful to batshit crazy. None of the people I'm voting for are evil in any way shape or form.
I agree that the national leadership could be far better and more proactive. But I'm happy with the guys I'm voting for this round.

6. Just look at all the NO votes the GOP have cast and what they're against
Edited on Sat Oct-23-10 08:17 PM by deacon
and what they want to do (privitize SS,medicare, VA health care,do away with unemployment benefits, radical changes to the constitution, spread bigoty and racism and on and on) and you will see the clear difference.

Think majority leader Demint and House Speaker Boehner. Now THAT is evil.

10. Hmmmm
How about first things first? How about we attempt to retain the House and the Senate? How about in 2012 we elect MORE liberal leaning folks to the House and Senate so they completely neutralized the Blue Dogs?

Nancy Pelosi has been performing a stellar job in her role. I hope Harry Reid wins and then is replaced in his role, we need someone that has backbone that won't put up with the bullshit.

Perhaps you haven't noticed the more we the Democratic party plays by the rules the more we get sand kicked in our face? Politics ain't pretty and we have seen a great deal of evidence over the last 2 years.

We the Democratic party don't brag about our accomplishments - translated by the Repugs "the Democratic party has failed at everything".

We try to reach across the aisle to work in a non-partisan way-Repug translation - Dems are partisan they don't allow us to play.......wahhhh

We try to watch our for all Americans especially those that need help - Translated by Repugs - Democratic values are handouts to lazy people.

The Democratic party has been trying to change the tone but with their own supporters attacking them, the MSM attacking them, the Republican party voting no on every bill what do you expect to happen? Is it really a failure of the Democratic party?

So it is your right as an American to vote or not to vote. It's your decision. Your decision not to vote is a decision for the Republicans to gain a vote.

14. Exactly. Let's concentrate on beating the Republicans first.
Then we can clean up our party internally.

16. I don't see that working
Looks to me like the leadership is rigging the primaries to support the candidates they choose. I don't mean ballot-stuffing, just skewed support for their chosen candidates. How can we get around that?

17. How does not voting for a Democrat advance our desired agenda?
Edited on Sun Oct-24-10 12:33 AM by MilesColtrane
You lay out, a Republican takes control, so the next Democratic challenger comes back in the next election looking all the better?

We had to destroy the village in order to save the village?

Wiki Be´n Tre.

That's Nader strategy, and look where that got us.
