"Simplify! Simplify!"---Henry David Thoreau
Most of us have heard of and nearly all of us have suffered from "outrage fatigue". Since the 2000 selection, outrageous events have occurred with such frequency that we barely have time to measure the true extent of one before another overtakes and replaces it in the collective consciousness.

If I wanted to waste your time and mine, I could easily list a couple dozen events that have spiked our blood pressure and caused us to invent new cuss words befitting the scope of the obscenities showered upon us. Suffice it to say that there were so many that hardly any of them were ever investigated or addressed.

And, that's where we're at now: so many outrages competing for our attention that, in self defense, we simply shut them out and try not to let each week's new "Oh My God!" event overwhelm us.

I say we need to pick a single-digit number---be it five or three or whatever---of these outrages and DEAL WITH THEM!

For example, let's assume that there is some consensus that the filibuster, the Citizens United decision and conservative domination of our media are the Top Three outrages. What would happen if we---us---this army of frustrated progressives out here in the hinterlands---resolved to ignore all other complaints and issues until these were resolved and then bombarded our Congressmen, Senators and the White House with daily letters, e-mails and phone calls demanding action to end the filibuster abuse, reverse the effects of Citizens United and restore something like the Fairness Doctrine.

We keep it up. Tens of thousands of letters, emails and calls---every day, five days a week, with occasional marches and rallies on weekends.

Bumper stickers. Freeway blogging. Tee shirts.

If one of these gets resolved, we replace it with another outrage and keep hammering away at our Top Three.

We know how pissed off we are. Why not focus that energy instead of letting it be diluted among the dozens and dozens of worthy targets of our disgust?

Maybe Hank Thoreau would look at today's world and admonish us to "Prioritize! Prioritize!"

3. Hell, YES! 'Cause we all know that its really the Democrats that are the problem!
I'll bet Karl would help us with that.
