Marriage. One man. One woman. For the Glory of God.
I voted this morning, and it's got me in a mood.

El Paso extended partner benefits to gay city employees last year, which of course flushed conservative fundies out of the weeds, waving a "traditional family values" referendum for our voting pleasure. It's hard to get a decent read on support, it could go either way.

Naturally, this has made marriage a hot topic again. Because, y'know, give them a dental plan and they'll want a church wedding to go with it. I heard a stoked pastor yammering about the prime purpose of marriage, namely to "glorify God."

So, for Rev. God Bothering Tight Britches, some fine examples of God Glorifyin':

Richard Ramirez and Doreen Lioy, October 3, 1996.

Ted Bundy and Carole Ann Boone, February 9, 1980

James Earl Ray and Anna Sandhu, Oct. 13, 1978

Susan Atkins and James W Whitehouse, 1987

Henry Louis Wallace and Rebecca Torrijas, June 5, 1998

Kenneth Bianchi and Shirlee Book, September 1989

Angelo Buono and Christine Kizuka, 1986

1. I take your point on most of those. Small quibble, though.
Anna Sandhu wasn't married to James Earl Ray when he was apprehended for the killing of Dr. King(there are still some questions as to whether he actually acted alone or was the killer at all).

In that case, I don't think the marriage had any pertinence to Ray's actions, and Ms. Sandhu, whatever you might think of her decision to marry Mr. Ray, wasn't responsible for anything he did.

3. They're all prison marriages
Incarcerated psychopaths who can snag a spouse are doing the Lord's Work, per the Right Rev.

Revelation 4:6-8: "And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come."
