Donating money in close races
Some of these races are really close and I don't know if it will make a difference but I gave $100-$500 in several races I consider close. I encourage others to send money - even if it's just a little something - to candidates in close races. I gave to Barbara Boxer, Barney Frank, Jerry McNerney, Russ Feingold, Joe Sestack, Jerry Brown, and Michael Bennet.

There are probably a lot of others so if anyone wants to add to the list that would be great. Sure hate to lose but 511 votes like Gore did in Florida (yeah - I how he really didn't lose) just for lack of a little bit of money. If everyone on DU donated $25 to each tight race we could probably flip at least one election. Who is with me on this?

3. I've met Pat Murphy
He's a good guy--sometimes to the right of me on an issue or two, but sincere and very smart.

6. Me, too--and others
I even got a call from the fraud division of my credit card company back in the States because they thought my
card might have been stolen by some political junkie who was making thousands of dollars of donations to candidates
all over the country. I told them that as long as the donations were to Democratic candidates, there was no fraud
involved.

5. I have been doing exactly the same, plus donating to a few long shots
Edited on Sun Oct-24-10 12:15 PM by DFW
Not Jerry McNerney, but Bill White in Texas, and Tommy Sowers, a long shot shot in MO, but a guy I like,
as well as Roy Herron in Tennessee, who is a good friend.

I have also been draining the piggy bank (no more tuition--my kids are now both working!!) for Boxer, Frank,
Feingold, Sestak, Brown, Bennett as well as Alan Grayson and Alex Sink in Florida. I don't know how many others,
but quite a few. If I had the Koch Brothers' money, we'd be headed for 300 House seats and 70 Senate seats!

Since George Soros is already demonized by the extremist right, I wish he'd match million dollar donations
against people like Grayson, Boxer and Feingold with million dollar donations FOR them.

*on edit--I don't consider Bill White a long shot, but rather a very exciting 50/50 shot to ditch Rick the dick.

7. I was laid off four weeks ago
But have been busy volunteering for Charlie Melancon as well as looking for work. I have been out four days a week knocking on doors and urging people to get out to vote. Looks like I will be busy driving people to the polls of November 2.

9. Thank you! Right now, your time is probably worth more than your money.
GOTV is where it's it!

10. The timing was perfect, this is a tough race
But crucial to Louisiana. Vitter, besides being a bastard, embodies "more of the same".

8. I am
I live in Utah, giving to the only Dem who can win (Jim Matheson) would make me crazy. I'll vote for the ass hole but I'm not happy about it. All other dems will lose big (I did give to Caroon for gov but only out of party guilt, not because he as a chance)

So, my money has gone to Sestack and small amounts to a few others. Money best spent might be in WV but its hard to get behind such a conservative dem for me. I love Sestack, he's a liberal, kinda reminds me of Clark. And of course, he got Specter out and with the latest attention to Anita Hill, reviewing his questioning of her, I'm happy he's gone. (And she deserves sainthood for withstanding that with such grace.)
