Is the tide about to turn? Republicans fight rising panic as polls suggest Democrats are closing the gap - thanks to the Tea Party
By Mail On Sunday Reporter

With polls in key battleground states showing a swing in support for Democratic Senate candidates, Republicans are left with the nagging fear that the November 2 mid-term elections might not be quite the massive triumph that many have predicted.

In Pennsylvania, Democratic Representative Joe Sestak has trailed Republican Pat Toomey for months, and a Republican victory has always seemed likely, given that it's a Republican-trending year in this perpetually contested state.
But recent polls suggest Sestak has closed the gap, and Republican leaders are imploring supporters not to panic even as they ask themselves: 'What's going on?'

the answer, it seems is straightforward. Embattled Democrats have seized on a common claim: A dangerous fringe movement - the Tea Party - has taken over the Republican Party.

1. Put on a happy face....
It will scare the crap out of the Republicans. They will think you know something they don't. Psychological warfare is appropriate sometimes.

:-)

5. Repugs have been playing psychological warfare FOREVER,
and its time for Dems to use it regularly.

2. This is not surprising to me
To hell with 'conventional wisdom' or historical crap. The mold was broken forever when Obama was elected. Nothing will ever be the same again in this country, whether the Republicans like it or not. They're already obsolete even though they don't know it yet.

3. They quite literally began believing their own press clippings about a "Red Wave" in November.
They also forgot that moderate, sane, Republicans really don't like the Tea Party at all.

7. I think the gap was the wishful thinking of the media
I do not believe that there are any Democrats out there that would filthy their hands and minds by pulling a lever for the republicans. The media wanted people to believe it tho.

9. No. It's because people are on the ground, talking to people directly
...contacting voters directly and keeping people engaged even if they don't seem to want to be. Organization is key in this election and the polls will keep getting better if we keep working hard. And we cannot stop working hard, no matter what the polls say, good or bad, because that will mean we lose. No matter what the polls say.

Polls are meaningless, mobilization is key =)

11. They will say the election was stolen and then start shooting people probably
These are the kind of people who can go off the handle and become violent.

Lets just hope this good news if for real and not count our chickens just yet.

The D's are bound to lose some seats. Having so many more to defend statistically means they're going to lose more no matter what. Since the R's are going to net gain >0 seats, they'll try to spin that pitiful pickup as a mandate to keep opposing the Democrats.

And since the Tea Party is full of morons that hang on Fox's every word, they'll believe the spin that a dozen seats is an overwhelming mandate.

13. The party of NO peaked too early
Dumbshits.

They could have taken it if they had only timed it better. And phew what a relief they let the amateur tea partiers take over their party.

14. Their biggest 'leads' were always in the RW polls anyway...
You know, Rasmussen, Faux, even Gallup has gone pretty unreliable lately.

The only poll that matters is Nov 2. If we vote, we win. It's pretty much that simple. High turnout, as always, favors the Democrats.
