Message from Chris van Hollen, Chairman, DCCC:
Sarah Palin, Karl Rove and John Boehner think you've given up. They think you won't show up to vote and that they've already won the election.

But, President Obama and I know better. We're already seeing headlines like "More Democrats casting early ballots" in key states.

With nine days left, sitting on the sidelines is no longer an option. Not if we want to keep the special interest barbarians from the gate and retain our strong Democratic Majority. There are more races than ever before within the margin of error.

<9 Days Until the Election>
Please lend a hand by committing to do one of the following activities between now and Election Day.

* Sign up to volunteer in a local race. You can make phone calls, stuff envelopes or knock on doors. Even a couple hours of your time can make a huge difference to the campaign.
* Sign up for our virtual phone bank. You can make critical Get-Out-The-Vote phone calls from the comfort of your home.
* Take a senior citizen or young person to vote. Turning out these voters is vital to our Get-Out-The-Vote strategy. We need volunteers to help get these key voters to the polls.
* Contribute to the DCCC's Get-Out-The-Vote drive. Help us reach President Obama's $1 million goal before Tuesday's deadline.

In addition to volunteering, I also need your help getting out the facts about the Democratic Party's accomplishments over the last two years.

The fact is the more voters learn about Democratic accomplishments, the less inclined they are to vote for Republicans. I want to share with you Five Fast Facts about what Democrats have accomplished:

* More private sector jobs have been created in 2010 alone than during the entire eight years of the Bush presidency.
* Democrats have enacted policies that have turned the economy around after the Bush Administration plunged us into historic debt.
* Americans are paying the lowest taxes in 60 years.
* The new health care reform law improves the private insurance system and increases the number of Americans with private health coverage.
* Wall Street Reform returned fairness and common sense rules to our financial sector.

Make sure your friends and family have the facts: Forward this e-mail to five of your friends, share it on Facebook, or tweet it on Twitter.

When voters learn the truth about these accomplishments, voters turn out for our candidates. We have the most sophisticated voter turnout operation ever implemented in a midterm election talking to voters about what's at stake in this election. We have 725 paid staff working around the clock for courageous Democratic candidates locked in too-close-to-call races. But, they're not enough. We need an army of volunteers to help them.

That's why I'm recruiting another 100,000 volunteers to help pull our candidates across the finish line. And I need you to help me reach this 100,000 volunteer goal by Tuesday's One-Week-Out deadline. Please consider volunteering to help the campaign today. And, please support our campaign with a generous contribution. We are just nine days out from Election Day and your last minute support is critical to victory on Election Day.

Thank you.

Chris Van Hollen
DCCC Chairman

P.S. We're really down to the wire. We've got to pull out all the stops. Please volunteer today and if you can make one more contribution to our campaign, please do so today. Thank you.

1. Message to Chris Van Hollen and the DSCC
You don't support REAL Democrats like Alan Grayson, therefore I don't support you.

5. I think Chris van Hollen has been okay the vast majority of the time, when it counted.
What else would you suggest, not vote or vote for the Neocons and Tea-partyers?
We can't afford either.

8. Alan Grayson shot himself in the foot when he decided to lie
about his insane, RW fringe kook of an opponent when there was so much REAL material to draw on.

I like Grayson's style, but he fucked up big time with that ad and I'm surprised you and others are letting him off the hook for that.

12. Well. you could always ask him about that ad yourself
He does post here now, ya know?

For the record, it wasn't My favorite ad either. But the submission thing IS a part of the doctrine of many right wing "fundie" churches. I told Paul to leave that foolishness out of his writings, but he apparently wasn't listening that day. :(

15. Sorry if you have the impression that Rep. Chris van Hollen posted
this message here himself. If you look in the name column of "General Discussion,"
you'll see "Cal 33," not "Chris van Hollen." I simply reposted a general message
from him. I'm trying to help him to contact as many people as possible by posting
it here.

17. I was responding to Arkana's post above
who was referring to Alan Grayson's campaign ad of a few weeks ago, which took a bit of "creative license" with the editing of his religious fundie opponent's comments regarding submissive wives.

Congressman Grayson IS a registered member of this website, and had a live blog session here earlier this week.

25. I have, actually. Didn't get an answer because I was too busy getting a pasting
from my fellow DUers over the fact that I expressed skepticism that it was actually THE Alan Grayson and not perhaps one of his campaign staff or something.

20. You know, there are exceptions but, as a general rule, those who presume to
define who is a "real" Democrat and who isn't are bent on dividing and weakening the Democratic party that they pretend to care about.

Petty sniping is always a nuisance. Nine days before crucial mid-term elections it is nothing short of nauseating.

If you keep it up, don't complain if you get puked on.

22. I've done nothing of the sort.
I do think it's rather pathetic of the DCCC to beg for money after making it known that they will do nothing to help one of the best Democrats in Congress however.

Electing more "Democrats" like Heath Schuler and Ben Nelson will not help us in any way. Electing more Democrats like Alan Grayson will save this country.

I recommend you donate to those who can see that reality. That would leave you with the choices of contributing to the candidates directly, or to organizations such as Democracy For America or Progressive Democrats of America.

No sniping, no puking, no nausea. Just the facts, and the solutions.

23. Grayson is one of the best representatives, in my opinion. I
wrote in another post, that if he should not win in FL,
he might move to anothe another state where what he is
trying to do might be more appreciated. I'd hate it to
see a good man go to waste. Yes. Grayson is one of my
favorites.

4. K&R. I'm canvassing for my congressman on election day, to get out the vote...
And when they asked if I could do another day leading up to the election, when they need people the most, I said I'd do them all. I'm afraid it's going to be scarier than when I did it last time around, with the teabaggers and emotions running so high, and my congressman's running ahead, but I saw the crazy teabaggers at his debate last week, and we can't afford to take any chances or miss a single vote... :(

6. His 5 Fast Facts.
Edited on Sun Oct-24-10 04:09 PM by Chan790
Are too long for a Facebook status.

Poor showing, Van Hollen. Ask us to FB something and you didn't even format it so we could.

So which of the 5 fast facts, gets the axe?

1.) More private sector jobs have been created in 2010 alone than during the entire eight years of the Bush presidency.

2.) Democrats have enacted policies that have turned the economy around after the Bush Administration plunged us into historic debt.

3.) Americans are paying the lowest taxes in 60 years.

4.) The new health care reform law improves the private insurance system and increases the number of Americans with private health coverage.

5.)Wall Street Reform returned fairness and common sense rules to our financial sector.
