Can't Two Play at That Game?
Edited on Sun Oct-24-10 05:25 PM by bondwooley
From an outside poll:

How could the left intimidate conservative, rich, white voters at the polls?

There's no question that the right is trying to keep Democratic voters away from the voting booth this November.

Can't two play at that game? How would you keep conservatives at home during the midterms?

Let's level the playing field, here!

2. I like polls but...
I'm not convinced voter suppression is something to joke about. :(

3. But really ...
... is this what it's come down to? Between Citizen's United and organized voter intimidation, can the Dems even play on a level field any more? Or do we have to go over to the "dark side" just to fight the good fight?

4. Dee Gail Colins' article...
...yesterday in the New York Times about Russ Feingold. He's refusing outside money even in the face of out of control spending from his opponent. It's more important to him to run an honest campaign than to win. Election Day will tell us if that's a winning strategy. And of we're better for it. (trying not to be cynical here....)

6. Dee Gail must be her cousin ...
... But honestly, I am going to be really amazed if the *majority* of candidates can win based on honest campaigns - defined as no funny money.

The field just isn't that level. People vote for names on the ballot they recognize - and that takes advertising, which leads to press, which leads to awareness in the booth, which leads to a vote.

There are exceptions - but enough to keep Congress? I don't think so.
