Polls show that 57% of the French support the unions for taking action on the pension issue.

31 % of the French polled are satisfied with Sarkozy.

That should make Obama feel a little better.

It should also serve as a warning to those in Congress and the White House who think that tinkering with Social Security in this economy is going to be accepted by voters, regardless of the political persuasion of the voters.

Pretty amazing in my view.

Christine Lagarde, Minister of the Economy estimated that the strikes cost between 200 and 400 million Euros a day. She admitted that it is hard to calculate and that she might cheat a bit in favor of the French (translate government).

Apparently, Ms. Lagarde thinks the strikes are causing less of a problem than the strikes in 1995 did.
