I talked to about 75 voters in the process. Many undecided folks. Many not voting. I know that I swayed some of the undecideds. I don't agree with everything that President Obama and the Dems in Congress have done. They've definately pissed me off more than once in the last 2 years. But I absolutely agree with the Maher quote that follows.
It's crunch time folks. What are you doing to keep these assholes from getting back into power?

"There is a big difference between a disappointing friend and a deadly enemy. Of course the Democrats are disappointing. That's what makes them Democrats. If they were any more frustrating they'd be your relatives. But in this country they are all that stands between you and darkest night. You know why their symbol is the letter 'D'? Because it's a grade that means good enough, but just barely. You know why the Republican symbol is 'R'? Because it's the noise a pirate makes when he robs you and feeds you to a shark."
---Bill Maher

1. I was presenting at a science teachers' association Thursday-Sunday, so not much...
Except that it was interesting to hear the Mythbusters guys talk about their recent work with Obama in promoting STEMS programs, and how their discussion forums had some dissenting replies about Obama supporting science education in public schools.

Haters.

However, I'm working closely with the local Jerry Brown campaign, he's coming to my favorite and closest city park on Saturday and I'm setting up.

Can't wait!

:bounce:

10. A neice made the mistake of scheduling her wedding
during both election and hunting season, causing lots of grumbling at the reception. So last weekend was out. But I've been doorknocking since June, a couple times a month. I drove around rural Minnesota putting up signs. I walked in a parade for a candidate. I've donated dollars. I'm signed up to doorknock on Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday.

And I've fought the internet wars and asked for donations on line.

2. nicely done! I lit-dropped about 500 doors on Saturday, knocked on 90 Sunday
Didn't get to talk to a lot of people this weekend, but those I did, were excited about voting for the Democrat and knocking out the VERY Conservative incumbent.

There is DEFINITELY no enthusiasm gap.

3. I was out precinct walking this weekend, too. Talked to a lot
of people in my own precinct, and have almost finished walking the entire thing. I'll be able to finish up next weekend. I don't know if I changed any minds about voting preferences, but I did get several people who said they weren't planning to vote to promise that they would vote on Nov. 2. Since my precinct is very heavily Democratic, that's a good thing.

5. Let's see:
Took my mother to the theater for her birthday. Spent about 12 hours this weekend on work I brought home from work. Cleaned horse pens, scooping and moving about 28 cu feet of manure. Cleaned the house. Went to the feed store, came home with 150 lbs of chicken feed; unloaded it. Watered everyone. Checked the heater in the pump house. Did laundry. Got the last of the firewood in I'll need to heat the house this winter, and started stacking it.

13. I have no idea who your friend Andy is or what you're talking about.
I was banned in 2006 from that site. You can read about it in the link posted in my profile on the day I joined DU. I'm sorry about your friend, but I know nothing about that at all.

More to the point of my post, you were bragging about not doing anything in this election. Personally, I find nothing brag-worthy in that, hence my sarcasm. You post. I reply.

outed at this web site, for having 20,000 posts at Free Republic and one must take this posters sarcasm seriously?

And the Andy I am speaking of is Andy Stephenson. Who I held in my arms when he was dying of the most horrific cancer and Free republic posters attacked him through his illness to his death.

Now I am supposed to accept a poster from FR attacking me?

A simple explaination is in order.

Thank you!

20. Some are a hoot..
In the fall of 2008, I left my cell number with some of the elderly folks, so that they could call me if their schedule changed before I was supposed to pick them up.

Since then, I've helped one couple when the husband fell and broke his ankle and hip, and another elderly gentleman keeps dialing me by mistake when he wants to talk to his grandson in Georgia. It usually takes about a minute to explain that he's mis-dialed- again. :)

11. I spent 2 days canvassing for Chris Coons and John Carney here in Wilmington
I also help with Data Entry. I don't do phonebanking; my hearing is bad enough as it is that it's difficult for me to hear what folks are saying on the phone, if I'm in a noisy office with other people it's just impossible.

I also loaned the office my backup laptop to use and regularly buy bottled water and snacks for our office on 3rd and Union too.

and didn't back down, they could. The area newspaper printed a comparison of Blunt's and Carnahan's positions on the issues. They were virtually identical leaving one with the impression that Blunt is a conservative and Carnahan is a wannabe conservative. One of the other races, the democrat sounds more like a republican than the republican candidate. Another ad shows the democratic candidate conspicuously toting a gun around.

Its pretty clear that the current democratic party is consumed with the need to out-republican the republicans. I guess we'll find out how that works out real soon.

30. Since late August for one Democratic candidate running for a State office I've driven hundreds of
miles working rural towns in the District, knocked on hundreds and hundreds of doors, asked for contributions, distributed yard signs, phonebanked, and damn-it sure looks like the guy I volunteered for is going to win. I'm an independent, I'm not interested in hearing about how any political party is going to save US, moreover, the fact that the candidate I volunteered for has never sought or held elected office in his 53 years is a large part of why I'm so optimistic.

I've also volunteered to get out the vote in the final four days.

That's what this motivated disabled small person has done this mid-term campaigning time groovedaddy.

of Obama's war policy in the form of helping soldiers returning from Afghanistan. Also, I was teaching anti-war folks how to respond to FBI/CIA repression now that Kagan and Holder have one-upped Bush and declared that speaking to or communicating with anyone designated a terrorist (even as a lawyer or a journalist) is now material support for terrorism.
