I have Glen Beck Playing in my house |
|
Some workmen are here laying tile in my kitchen. They brought a radio and immediately turned it to Glen Beck.
I can't really tell what outrage they are talking about...something about the pledge of Allegiance not not being used to start some meeting or something. But they are having a great time laughing about it. His cackling laugh is almost more that I can take. I bet I Hanity and Limbaugh are next up.

2. Personally, I'd tell the owner why you'll be taking your |
|
business elsewhere in the future. I'd also tell those workers to turn that shit off,it's your house.

|
so why Beck...
In fact, there's a lot of guys around who lay tile. Unless money and contracts have changed hands, I'll tell them to pack their shit an' git!

7. Money and contracts have change hands |
|
I ordered it through Lowe's and payed for it last week. I had to take two days off from work to be here while they work. I can't afford to stop them now or change the dates.

|
Then go to Lowe's and express your displeasure.

29. Did you pay with credit card? |
|
If you did then call the credit card company and dispute the charge. Say that they have violated the contract.
Or call the Lowes, ask to speak to the general manager and tell him why you are are cancelling the contract and suing for the return of your money.

at the kind of evaluation you could give them. Upper management of big-box lumber and hardware stores these days is very attentive to customer satisfaction.
Payback, my friend, is a bitch.

I've heard Beck's show, it's really stupid and it should be easy for you to debunk for your tile guys.

|
They don't need the radio on in order to do their job, so turn it off. End of story.

16. Are they there to listen to the radio or to work? |
|
How much time does that add to the job that these guys want to halfass your job so they can concentrate on the radio?
You would think part of their job would be to do it with the least disturbance to the customer's home, both noisewise and with the amount of time it takes.
They're really making themselves at home, aren't they?

34. These workers are choosing an ambiance of distraction. |
|
Music, especially good music, could set a mood to allow them to focus on the flow of their work. Talk radio of ANY kind is not going to enhance their prep, layout or tile setting skills.

If they refuse, then pull out your largest kitchen knife and cut the speaker wires. Worked for me several years ago. :evilfrown:

20. At least where I live, it's in Spanish |
|
and most workers prefer to listen to music. I can cope. In fact, I offer to put it onto my decent stereo system instead of the tinny portable speakers, help their work day go better.
Even the Spanish talk radio is mostly Jebus and not politics.

21. I listen to Beck on the radio sometimes. |
|
I'd let them keep it on and just occasionally point out some of his stupidities - not in an "elitist" tone - but more so they might understand why Beck collects millions for telling them lies.

24. I'd wait until they'd set the tile |
|
and then grout it myself tomorrow. Grouting is messy but it's the easy part.
Just let the owner know that if they want to listen to cleft headed dropouts spewing offensive garbage, they need to do it on headsets or he's going to lose more jobs.
