The Song Radio Stations Are Banning--I don't believe it. I think this is an urban legend.
Someone sent me this forward:

Song Radio Stations Are Banning

...The song you are about to listen to is from a Las Vegas Diamond Rio concert.
They received an immediate, resounding standing ovation, and continue to do so every time they perform it! Sadly, major radio stations wouldn't play it because it was considered "politically incorrect."
Consequently, the song was never released to the public.
We can all take care of that by sending it ON!

Here's some of the lyrics of said song:

You place your hand on His Bible, when you swear to tell the Truth
His name is on our greatest Monuments, and all our money too,
And when we Pledge allegiance, there's no doubt where we stand,
There is no separation, we're one Nation under Him.

Chorus:
In God We Still Trust
Here in America
He's the one we turn to every time
The goin' gets rough
He is the source of all our Strength
The One who watches over us
Here in America
In God We Still Trust

1. Leo Sayer isn't really "banned" either; they just don't play him. Not exactly top 40.

3. Celebrating flagrant violations of our Constitution IS politically incorrect!
Edited on Mon Oct-25-10 11:18 AM by Towlie
The lyrics reek of arrogant gloating about how "you can take your First Amendment and shove it." It rubs in the fact that so many clear violations of separation of church and state have been shoved down our throats and there doesn't seem to be anything we can do about it.

I really wish that Americans did have more respect for the Constitution of the United States of America and the principles established by our Founding Fathers, and that they would boycott that song, but I have no doubt that it's just an urban legend. It's a common format of these circulating emails to stand up a straw man with the object of getting gullible people outraged about some movement that doesn't even exist.

5. As conservative and reactionary as the country music establishment is
even their radio programmers know better than to put something that blatantly religious on the radio. And while I admit I don't follow the Nashville scene very closely, has Diamond Rio even HAD any hits in the last 20 years?

10. i like diamond rio and they have had some good songs. i have never heard of this one
and if they don't play it on the radio, i would imagine it has to do with the fact that they don't play every song from a cd on the radio. don't the record companies release a song TO the radio and they play that song? i thought that was how it worked.

6. The real reason why it's not played is because it's lame
Once again proving that calling something "politically incorrect" is just another way of saying that it's stupid.

9. I Googled it.
The only places that have reported (2009) that the song was banned are ConservitiveNation, et al. Let's face it, the song just sucks.
