Serious Orwellian Mind-Bender going on at JobVent.com
Edited on Mon Oct-25-10 11:47 AM by PassingFair
www.jobvent.com

I loved to visit this site and read other's
musings on my workplace.

It helped me to know I was not crazy, and that
the bullshit I endure in my office is indeed a country-wide
phenomena.

Well, I took a look over there today, and there
are NOTHING BUT POSITIVE REVIEWS for just about
every business.

They've PURGED every bad review and created a new
system, where negatives cannot occur.

They have either sold the site to a corporate
aggregate or are being sued. It is difficult
to even find any discussion about it, as they
are deleting posts as fast as people can log on.

So strange to have seen the truth for so long,
only to log on and see:

I love my job!
The management is so understanding!
The pay is above average!

Yada yada yada.

I think I'm losing it!

2. Figures, what a bunch of BS, I used them to find some reviews about
a potential company I had a feeling was crap only to have it totally confirmed. I just checked it and the scathingly honest reviews are all gone only the 4+ ones remain, which seem like 'company me'n wrote them.

3. They missed THIS review of Forever 21..
From California — 07/28/2010
Did anyone have a bad experience at a northern CA store? We are putting together a class action lawsuit and would like to speak to some northern CA employees, particularly those that worked in Oakland or Alameda County. The stores in the Los Angeles area were pretty bad. If you are willing to share your experience, please email me at jhart@jhartlawfirm.com and I can tell you more about what is going on with the case. You can also reach me at (310) 903-0717 if you would prefer to speak on the phone. Thanks.

6. Probably didn't score as a negative.
The company I work for had about 70 comments removed.

Cherry-picked the management-written review and left only them.

8. They're just purging the ones with scores under 3.0, I think.
I don't think anyone is going to the trouble of READING them.

10. Maybe it's temporary?
Until they factor the others into the new
rating system?

Weird.

Really weird.

11. Even 3.0+ reviews are quite negative
I have read some reviews for my company, and about 80% are still quite negative, even though they may have a 3.0+ rating and survived the cut.

13. That's because they're not READING the reviews, just cutting the ones with the low scores.
It's still Orwellian censorship-- but it's also being lazy about it.
