Scalia takes Kagan to gun range, sources say

According to two witnesses, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia took fellow Justice Elena Kagan out for a lesson in skeet shooting at his shooting club in Virginia last week.

The witnesses saw Scalia at the Fairfax Rod and Gun Club, where he is a member, around noon on Wednesday of last week. He was with a woman who was noticeably diminutive in height, like Kagan, who stands at about five feet three inches. The witnesses, who got a very close look at the pair, say that the woman was the newest Supreme Court Justice.

Scalia was bending down in order to teach Kagan how to hold the shotgun, the witnesses say, and the pair were shooting skeet.

7. noticeably diminutive?
She's only a couple of inches below average height for females in her age group.

I don't think Scalia's much taller than that himself.

8. I think this is a good thing! Friendship is one way to get Scalia
to see and accept YOUR point of view. We'll see how the votes go as time elapses, but it's a hell of a lot better than to hear she was being osrticized, don't ya thik?

12. He doesn't need to cajol Kennedy; he already vots with old Tony
most of the time. I keep thinking back to the rumor that Keagan was very good at finding common ground and winning people ver to her opinion. I HOPE this s what we're seeing with this bit of socializing with old Tony!

13. Scalia's best friend on the court is Ginsberg. They take vacations together.
Don't think that has really done anything to get Scalia to change his views.

22. So?
What is your concern? It seems entirely appropriate that two Supreme Court justices would know each other socially. Shooting skeet is a sport like any other. And, Justice Scalia is also very close to Justice Bader Ginsburg. I don't see anything unusual here. No, I'm not being disingenuous. Despite his stellar intellect, I think Scalia is a dangerous and scary man. I think skeet shooting is dumb unless you're practicing to hunt for food. But...I see no cause for concern here.
