Meg Whitman: "The L.A. Times poll is biased and it's bunk...We're going to win this"
With eight days left until Californians head to voting booths, the Republican candidate for governor, Meg Whitman, says she's confident of victory even though she trails Democrat Jerry Brown in the most recent polling. "We're going to win this," said Meg Whitman in an interview today with ABC's Diane Sawyer.

Whitman has spent some $141 million of her own money for a fighting chance at the governor's mansion, but the former eBay CEO is still 13 points behind Brown in the latest Los Angeles Times poll.

"Is that a hit in the chest?" Sawyer asked as they rode Whitman's campaign bus.

"No, because the L.A. Times poll is biased and it's bunk," Whitman replied. "Every year, the L.A. Times comes out with a poll about a week before the election that's very heavily skewed to the candidate they choose. Who did the L.A. Times endorse? Jerry Brown."

1. Well, I do agree that the LA times polls are bogus, but not this one! :)

2. It must really baffle Nutmeg
that she spent all this money and is behind. That poll can't possibly be right because whoever has the most money wins in her world.

Also someone needs to tell Meg that there is no Governor's Mansion in CA. A Governor hasn't lived there since Ronnie. It has since become a museum.

3. Whitman why don't you blow another couple million dollars for the hell of it
You're gonna lose anyway. You deserve to lose. Shame on you for thinking you can buy a job!

4. If she wins, then there has been voting machine fraud.
Edited on Mon Oct-25-10 11:31 PM by tabatha
But with Debra Bowen, that probably will not happen.

Hate how she refers to California, as "we are going to win this".

Edited to add, can't wait to have her gone.

5. Why is Sawyer wasting her time on NutMeg?

Maybe it's like interviewing the passengers of the Titanic just before they jump overboard.

6. One thing a candidate shouldn't do is bash polls like this
It just looks desperate. Generally, releasing an internal is how campaigns answer polls that show them down, but I would guess Whitman's internals are not to her liking right now.

7. The poll is conducted by two firms--one Dem, one GOP
Nice try, Meg, but your desperation is showing.

I just wonder how many people could have been helped if NutMeg had donated that cash to charity?

10. CEO's OUT of GOVERNMENT! Power wanting more: can't be good for the People. Read re CEO Tony Hayward
Edited on Mon Oct-25-10 11:48 PM by tiptoe

I'm guessing that relentless, defiant toxic-Corexit-user CEO T. Hayward is stalling for a hurricane
...
CEO Tony Hayward -- presumably reflective of 'BP gestalt' -- has shown himself to be nothing but a parochial corporatist with absolutely ZERO ecological or public conscientiousness -- i.e., all bottomline business, British polite, corporate-defined, -refined and -confined, and publicly/ecologically bankrupt. Here is a litany of examples from MSNBC, Keith Olbermann: BP Wreaks havoc on the Gulf -- A record of CEO Tony Hayward's response through Day 46 (June 4)

12. She's delusional
And she's gonna get a big ugly dose of reality next week. It may be one of the few bright spots in an otherwise gloomy evening for Dems, but it'll be worth it to watch her reaction to pissing away 150 million bucks just to go down as the biggest political joke in American history.

Attempting to smear Brown with the "tax and spend liberal" label is just a joke to any of us who actually lived in CA (unlike Whitman) when he was gov. He was perhaps the most tight fisted governor this state has ever had, certainly more conservative on taxation and government spending than the sainted Ronnie. The state tax burden actually declined during his term in office.

I'll be glad when this campaign is over and I no longer have to look at her ginormous forehead, her wrinkly neck and her monstrous gums anymore.

As Hitler in the scene from Inglorious Basterds where he's yelling at his officials and screams "NEIN NEIN NEIN!" and everyone outside the room is silent and scared.

18. Maybe she'll start screaming "DO YA LOVE YA FREEDOMS?" too...
Meg's going Captain Queeg before our very eyes. Yesterday she was saying that the $140 million was hers to spend because she earned it, and you can't buy California.
