Wow! Just checked my digital barometer. 27.61 |
|
Lowest I've ever seen in Saint Paul, MN. The wind's gonna blow like crazy, it seems. We must be right in the center of this cyclone.
Uff da! as they say here.

Down river from you in Davenport, Iowa. Sounds like it's all over the Midwest.

Making ready for the grand clean-up. One squirrel braved the fierce wind to chow down on some peanuts we have on the deck for them and the Jays. Sure glad I don't have any reason to go out in it..This is in Manitowoc county Wisconsin along the lake shore.

4. And that's a very good thing. My huge silver maple still had over half |
|
its leaves left yesterday, and I'm ready to put away the mower once I get all the leaves mulched. Maybe this weekend, if the wind holds up. Yay!
Of course, silver maples being what they are, I'll also have some small dead branches to clean up, too.

7. We clean up the leaves and spread them on the garden |
|
spaces we have. A huge one for 4 Hmong families and a smaller one for us.

I just mulch them all with the mower and leave them on the lawn. That's my fall fertilization program. Works pretty well, and I don't have to rake and bag.
All my neighbors saw me doing that a couple of years ago and have started dealing with their leaves in the same way. Lots easier.

5. Tornado touched down about 10 miles from me in Peotone, IL |

MSNBC left the "e" off when reporting it a few minutes ago. Just got my electricity back. Some storm chasers just drove by.

10. Just looks like wind here. The rain, etc. is falling elsewhere. |
|
We'll probably miss all the excitement. Just some winds.

13. Nice map. It does show that it was circulating around a point |
|
that would have been very near my place in Saint Paul. The barometer has now started to rise, as the central focus of the storm shifts to the north. That explains it very nicely. The center of the low apparently passed right over us.
