Say I have a screenshot. How do I include it in a post?

Under 'Share This Image' copy the 'Direct Link' link.

left click "properties", highlight, copy address (URL) and paste on your post

5. DU's rules frown on hotlinking images...

Do not steal someone else's bandwidth by posting images that are hosted on another website. Democratic Underground is a high-traffic website, so posting images from other sites will cause their server load to increase dramatically, and might even cost the website owner money. If you wish to post an image from another website, you must contact the owner of the other website to get their consent.

Getting a photobucket account is a much better way to do it.

you are correct... this is a photo from my photobucket acct and I was just simplifing process after... assuming the photo was in their acct... my bad

9. One more suggestion - tinypic.com

You don't have to have an account there - you just go to their home page, click on the 'browse' button to find the picture on your hard drive, upload it, and they give you a URL for it, which you use in your DU post. For anything that you just want to upload once, and won't want to find it again later (unless you remember the DU post you used it in), it's the quickest way to get a picture stored on the net, I think. It's visible to everyone, of course, but that's what you want for pictures on DU.
