One week to go....
...and looking at the latest polls, things don't look good. Talking Points Memo (TPM) is showing that Sestak is behind Toomey by 6 pts, Manchin is still behind Raese, and Giannoulis is losing to Kirk.

I feel that Obama is doing all he can to fire up the base, but the problem is many of the independent "swing" voters who supported Obama in 2008 are backing the GOP this year and they're not changing their minds. Chris Matthews' released an MSNBC poll last night showing that independents are favoring Republicans by a 14-point margin this cycle. These independent voters are probably going to give the Senate seats in PA, WV, WI, IL, CO, and NV to the Republicans.

The House is gone (sad to say, but true) and I think we could also lose the Senate or barely hang on with a 50-50 split provided Boxer and Murray win.

Matthews also gave a scary thought last night....if Palin is the GOP nominee in 2012, that could spur a run by Michael Bloomberg as an independent third candidate. Bloomberg, a former Democrat who's hardly been embraced by the Republican Party since his opportunistic switch in 2001, could siphon enough votes away from both Obama and Palin resulting in a deadlocked election (no candidate gets 270 electoral votes) and could throw the 2012 election into the House of Reps...which, since it will be controlled by Republicans, will appoint Sarah Palin as president. :yoiks:

God Help us all!

11. I have NEVER been more motivated to vote.

Not even in 2004 / 2008.

It's formulated to discourage Dems from voting.

5. Believe what you want...
...I'm a lifelong Democrat who's more motivated to vote this year than I was in 2008. In fact, I've already voted. I'm just making observations. I hope I am wrong, but I am very saddened by how so many Americans have been suckered into believing the lies of the screaming radical right the last two years. Nevertheless, absolutely GO VOTE. And encourage every single liberal voter to do the same.

3. Spreading the doom and gloom this morning, are we?
Way to go, there. How about calling your local congressional candidate and volunteering to help with the GOTV?

Or, as an alternative, you could just sit in your room and bewail the inevitable, eh?

8. Uh...is there one running in a neighboring district?
How about your Governor's race or something? Or, as I said, you can sit in your room and mope. Leave the rest of us out of your private feelings of doom, please.

9. Okay, okay....
...I actually have been phone-banking this weekend. I'll try to get some more done this evening after work. It's just so frustrating to see the American people actually believing this crap the tea-baggers are throwing out. Obama and the Democratic Congress has done a good job considering the hell we were left with by Bush & Co.. Anybody with an iota of common sense should understand that.
