Some of us tried to point these very same things out during the early part of the Bush administration and were slapped down as being extremists. But then we were the ones who had actually read "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" by William Shirer and couldn't help noticing the stark parallels. We are still witnessing history repeating itself in this election cycle especially with the rise of the Tea Party extremists. At first we didn't take them seriously. The Germans didn't take the Nazis seriously at first either because they appeared to be frankly nutty. Then they woke up one day to find Hitler was their Chancellor.
