Patriots for Al Gore Remarks on the Release Of The Assault On Reason

Patriots for Al Gore, a PAC dedicated to supporting the endeavors of the Honorable Al Gore, writes this press release to announce our pleasure at the release of Mr. Gore’s new book, The Assault on Reason. We hope that its context and important message brings about the dialogue necessary in this country across all lines that must be engaged in, in order to bring back respect for our Constitution and Democracy, and an urgency that will reignite a spirit long dead and gone.

We are indeed grateful to Mr. Gore for his truthful words, his visionary concepts, and his unrelenting stewardship to our country and this planet that sees beyond the black and white talking points of a complicit media that has neglected its duty for profit, the politics of fear of a deceptive government too beholding to all that is the antithesis to true representative democracy, and an all too apathetic people willing to ignore both for their own entertainment.

The questions we believe should be asked in reading this book are: Is it too late? Are we beyond reason? Are we beyond truth? Are we beyond being able to even fight for it on our own? Have we become too complacent to care? Can we even place all of the blame on media and government, or does some of it also fall on our laziness to even seek the knowledge we need to make change? Do we still have that will to seek it out, and how do we now do that to hold those who have taken our Constitution for granted at the expense of our soul as a nation accountable?

Where our country and our world stand today didn't just happen without our help in one form or another, and it didn’t all just happen in the last six years. Inaction and complacency regarding this Democracy have been building for decades and they have bred the corruption and fear leading us farther away from that reason Jefferson, Paine, and so many others believed in. And we can no longer allow it to stand because it has also led us from the one thing that absolutely distinguishes a Democracy from any other form of government: Truth.

As Thomas Paine stated in his call to arms, Common Sense in 1776:

“Such is the irresistible nature of truth that all it asks, and all it wants, is the liberty of appearing.”

Mr. Gore’s book must now be a call to arms for Americans of all political backgrounds in the 21st Century to seek out that truth and as our forefathers did, fight for it in every action and in every word and once again make it the cornerstone of our Democracy which is slowly eroding before our eyes due to neglect. The challenges we face today are no greater than those faced by those in Colonial America who also dealt with despotism. It is now our duty as the descendants of a legacy yet to be completed to do all in our power as citizens to now undo the damage we have all done in losing our focus by not taking on our responsibility.

Our deepest thank you to the statesman of our time who realizes this and that titles are also only as powerful as the conviction and moral compass behind them, and that it is ultimately the people from whom that power flows. May that common sense once again prevail as it did in a time when reasoned debate was what bore a great nation, to once again lift us up and give us the moral strength to do what must be done in the face of despotism to not only preserve Democracy but to save our planet.
