Has every one seen this Move-On Video?
Edited on Tue Oct-26-10 04:09 PM by EnlightenedOne
PLEASE watch this Move-On.org Video - it sums it all up very nicely in my opinion. The message: Hang in there for this election, whether you want to or not, just do it - for all of our sakes.

2. No one it telling you to sit down & shut up
but patience and hope is what is needed. The issues are being addressed at least. Just look at what Virginia got - it could always be worse.

12. how much longer do we have to wait
instead of working to overturn DADT and DOMA, Obama has decided to appeal court decisions overturning both

and he still doesn't support marriage equality

the message I'm getting is that this administration is actively working against the interests of my community by not addressing the two biggest issues that are facing us today

we've waited for almost two years and nothing has been done

how much longer do we have to wait

3. Some of us do not have the luxury
of waiting for change.

Some of us are old. Some are sick and unable to secure basic affordable care. Some of us have "alternative" lifestyles. Some of us are unemployed or underemployed - and have been so for years now. Some of us are homeless - or facing the very real possibility of losing our homes. Some of us have exhasuted our resources - and our patience. And some of us have lived in these circumstances for years.

Patience is a luxury.

6. I realize that
and I also realize that life under Republicans will only get worse for exactly these type of situations.

Unemployment, homelessness, extreme poverty, deregulations, oil spills, foreclosures, fraud and abuse were all brought to us by the Republican administration. Let's don't go back there is all I'm saying.

16. The only difference
between a Dem that does not serve to advance and protect my needs and interests and a Puke who does likewise is one of degree. Both ultimately fail to represent my needs and interests - and those of others like me.

We should be embarrassed to ask people to vote for Dems because they are not as bad as the Pukes (and that is exactly what we are suggesting when we say they are better than the Pukes). Rather, we should offer affirmative positive reasons - based both in policy and the character, qualifications and accomplishments of Dem candidates - to vote Dem.

14. You are going to say this sounds cold, but patience is still necessary
I mean, what else are you going to do? Just complaining on the internet doesn't help, and certainly not voting won't.

If it doesn't happen, you don't have to just wait. You can be part of the solution somehow.

20. Ummmm......No
My circumstances are such that I must do whatever is necessary to care for myself and my family. That's the priority. Everything and everyone else is secondary. I have little interest in advancing the political aspirations of candidates who do not serve to advance and protect my needs and interests. My focus is survival. I don't have the luxury of patience.

Being gay is not a singular identity fcr me. I wear many other hats as well.

5. Patience is for when you are on the path to a desired end, not an end it's self
The natives are restless because there is no real reason to hope that help is on the way.

7. I see it, I feel it, I sense it
Things are definitely changing - because we're changing - evolving, there is indeed hope. We've been through a horrific 8 years where everything was meant to be destroyed, that was the plan, and they didn't succeed. We're still here and we're still speaking out for our desired end.

22. That's great that you feel the wind at your back. Some of us feel more like we are getting our asses
kicked.

The eight years was a victory lap rather than the epicenter of the disaster. I do not feel that if only we had avoided Junior Bush that things would be ok because we we're getting our asses handed to us well before then.

Reagan must be undone and Obama and the Clintonites are literally against shitcanning the trickle down, you're on your own, free trade, bow down to capital, workers are over paid mentality.

The truth is we aren't exactly trying to even undo Bush. No one is being held accountable, corporations call the shots, and the money is still being funneled upwards as always.

What do you see as improving in real terms? We're still debating the ruinous tax cuts, we still maintain an unconstitutional force under no congressional oversight controlled by the executive that is only growing in use, we have a President that publicly granted himself the power to order extra-judicial murders of American citizens without even a charge filed, much a trial, we are still in stupid and pointless wars with no total decrease, we still won't sign on to reduce greenhouse gasses, our money still goes to bankers without strings or oversight, and on and on.

I think were still slipping. We haven't created a job in years, we are now re-litigating long accepted gains like birth citizenship and direct voting for Senators, we are appointing austerity commissions, and it goes on and on.

I'd love to believe we are winning but I can't suspend disbelief nor does hope pay for shit.

disgruntled = discontent. Surely you are not going to deny that there is "discontment" with the party or with Obama.

17. More Power of Nightmares stuff, I see
The video is well done, but it really doesn't speak of a progressive agenda that Democrats are advancing during this election cycle - just "Vote for the Dems or kiss President Palin's big ass."

18. Hey, it could happen
apparently people are just that stupid, as evidenced by the Repub candidates this year and the fact that these morons voted for Lil George Jr., TWICE. I won't be able to live on this planet if it happens. Nightmares don't necessarily come true, but this one could. Let's hope its not more of a premonition.

19. The good guys lose when the bad guys cheat
And Bush and his cronies cheated in both elections. So at least there's that.

I can see the teabaggers eventually replacing our National Anthem with this 10 years down the line:
