Whitman, refusing to pull negative ads, jeered at women's conference

http://blogs.sacbee.com/capitolalertlatest/2010/10/whitman-refusing-to-pull-negat.html

A crowd of women jeered Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman when she refused today to promise she'd pull her negative TV ads, even as "Today" show host Matt Lauer and an audience of thousands of women encouraged her to do so.

Jerry Brown, the Democratic nominee for governor, said in a panel discussion with Whitman and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger that he would remove his negative ads if Whitman did, too. "If Meg wants to do that, I'll be glad to do that," Brown said.

Whitman said negative ads are important to educate voters about what she said is Brown's record as a politician.

Many people in the crowd, estimated at 14,000, jeered her. Whitman said, "I'm not doing it in a mean-spirited way."

1. What a crock! Negative ads are important to educate voters? THAT'S educating
voters?

And "I'm not doing it in a mean spirited way"? She deserved to be jeered! How can someone that successful be so fucking stupid?

2. I guess you could say she had success...
But remember, she wasn't voted into her job. She was hired.

She has zero street smarts when it comes to running for office...

Thank goodness!

4. And her complete lack of street smarts is showing.
She's also been extremely defensive this week, which doesn't communicate strength or confidence. Jerry Brown would have to pull an Ozzy Osbourne and walk into a press conference and bite the head off of something in order to lose this one.

9. Good distinction. And the zero smarts about running for office -- she thought
she could just buy her way in. (Well, it worked for Bloomberg.) I will take SO much pleasure in seeing her defeated! Both she and Fiorina need an education. We're PEOPLE, not acquisitions they can buy.

5. She's right, but possibly not in the way she intended.
They point out to voters which candidate has no ideas of their own.

Thanks Meg, your ads are working just swell.

11. Negative ads main purpose is to discourage turnout, and low turnout favors Republicans.
Self-explanatory, they've known this for decades.

6. What a petty, nasty piece of work she is.
Anyone who actually thinks she's interested in being governor to benefit Californians is a deluded fool.

It's all about ego and power for this one. What a miserable excuse for a human being.

7. "I'm not doing it in a mean-spirited way."
What a crock. This freak of nature needs to go... I cannot wait until I don't have to look at her smarmy face anymore! Ugh! Yeah, Meg... that snarky whistle deal isn't mean-spirited at all... the lies aren't mean-spirited either. We can tell.

10. She should have offered to buy them all new cars if
they wouldn't jeer her.

Meg's losing a lot of ground here in the last month. I expect her to start shoving people again any day now once the final week's pressure begins to take hold...
