The forces that work to exploit, cheat, rob, lie, impoverish, beat down, dehumanize, etc., are always present. It's the unenlightened possibly Neanderthal lineage. But that's beside the point I'm attempting to make. What is not a constant, is the dedication by Liberals and Leftist to counteract these forces. Are we sleeping at the wheel? I know some of you are working your butts off trying to enact change. Now we are seeing great progressives like Alan Greyson and Russ Feingold struggling to hold their office, while the Tea Party comes out of nowhere and is having great success. (Yes, we are going to have Teabag Senators and Congresspeople).
Is our strategy flawed? Is the other side too powerful? Are we fucked? Should I shut up?

1. Old saying, paraphrased |
|
""When a fight starts, the liberals are the first to leave the room.""
There is some wisdom in doing just that, but given today's environment, politically, socially and earthly, we shouldn't be backing down. But we do.

all republicans (either the regular kind or the tea bagger variety) are cowards and quitters. Its easy to be evil, but its hard being good. The biggest problem is the economy right now. All these tea baggers are people who are out of work and watch faux news all day. If we can get the economy rolling again, and get these people out of the house during the day we fix the tea bagger problem. Plus once these baggers get elected they will become the most corrupt people in congress, you think regular republicans are bad, wait till you see the shit the tea bagger senators and Representatives will try and pull.

6. Those stereotypes don't do us any good. |

You've probably seen dozens of posts here about people being subjecting to right-wing drivel at doctors' offices, car dealerships, construction sites, etc., not to mention the fact that. at many of the teabag rallies, a rather large percentage of the attendees are retirees. If we aren't honest about who they really are, we won't be able to counteract their nonsense effectively.

4. To quote the ragin' cajin' "It's the economy stupid." |
|
Sometimes, historical foces combine to bring about bad things. Yor add to this to the fact that a majority of Americans have no sense of history or even a short term political memory. They are angry and fightened and want to turn off the pain. If Democrats can't fix things now, they will elect Republican to fix things now.
But, if historical trends do not deliver better times, and Republicans can't end the pain, their ascension could be short and painful.

5. Can't argue with you... I just posted a thread about |

just fucking giving up altogether. I mean if we can't win against the lunatics they put up for office, if the Dems can't come up with a strategy to defeat such pathetic loser candidates like Miller, O'Donnell, Buck, Angle, etc, etc, then they aren't worth the energy and time we give them. I mean really, if you step back and look it's total insanity, these people aren't qualified to be fucking dog catcher and the Democrats are actually having a hard time defeating them. Pathetic.

7. I'd stop short at slandering the neanderthals... |
|
if they were as nasty and brutish as we've been led to believe, they'd have a majority in Congress right now.
WE are the ugly, violent cavemen of fiction.

8. We concede the other side is correct, when we back down or |
|
walk away rather than stand up and confront.
