President Obama's Gay Appointees Smash Record
WASHINGTON — Less than halfway through his first term, President Barack Obama has appointed more openly gay officials than any other president in history.

Gay activists say the estimate of more than 150 appointments so far – from agency heads and commission members to policy officials and senior staffers – surpasses the previous high of about 140 reached during two full terms under President Bill Clinton.

"From everything we hear from inside the administration, they wanted this to be part of their efforts at diversity," said Denis Dison, spokesman for the Presidential Appointments Project of the Gay & Lesbian Leadership Institute.

1. I'm not surprised...
I'm not surprised that this thread fell to page two without even one comment on it.
It is sad that the threads with good positive news seem to not interest folks like the negative ones do ;(

2. No.
It fell because this sight is currently inundated with this story. If you're having any trouble finding them, there are 4 or 5 over in GLBT.:hi:

3. Thanks for the heads up, but I refuse to go to that forum.
I've gone there a couple of times and posted a couple 'good news' posts and got attacked each time.

6. I'm not surprised, because more people are 'out' now than 16 years ago
After 2 years, a major amount of appointments should have been made, and I'd have expected the Clinton number to have been passed.

5. Too bad he doesn't think
they are worthy enough for the marriage rights that he and his wife enjoy. Gays are good enough to work for me, but not good enough to see as equals, I guess. Fierce advocacy.
