Body Scanners in Orlando.
I guess we have to go two hours early just to be safe with all the frisking, because I will not subject myself to radiation of any kind.

Full-body imaging scanners are being installed this week at security checkpoints at Orlando International Airport, meaning some passengers soon will walk through the see-through-clothing machines instead of metal detectors to get on a plane.

Transportation Security Administration Administrator John S. Pistole said Tuesday in Orlando that the machines will be installed here this week, part of the agency's effort to get them into all major airports by the end of the year. So far, he said, 317 body scanners are in use in 65 airports.

Pistole wants 500 body scanners in place nationally by the end of this year, and 1,000 by the end of next year.

"We believe this advanced body imaging technology is the best technology available today," Pistole said.

1. And who's cashing in? Former DHS head Michael Chertoff.
As the church lady on SNL once said...

"Well isn't that conveeeniant"

2. I hope Assange has a body scanned photo of Chertoff's body in his secret files.

3. As a frequent flyer, my complaint with body scanners is that they are slower
IMHO, TSA can process 3 people through a metal detector in the time it takes them to process 1 person through the body scanner. That backs up the lines and makes the waits even longer.

Flying in/out of Orlando always takes longer due to the number of families and kids anyway. Now it's really going to suck.

Maybe TSA just hasn't figured them out yet.

4. What really bums me out is that the last two times I have traveled, it was almost
like old times and I thought things had changed. Nobody was giving me nervous glances and I didn't get singled out. It felt good to feel normal again. And then I hear the stupid shit about the scanners in Orlando. What it means to me is that I have a choice about getting radiated, or getting felt up whenever the "chatter" calls for tighter security. Believe me, there are anger issues to deal with each time I get picked out of the line. But I'm not going to get radiated because I don't trust the Feds. These fuckers couldn't figure out the dangers of high fructose corn sugars until it was too late so I'm done being this country's guinea pig.

6. So why would I want more?
Come on. It's time to wake up. Cancer did not become a Western disease because of the "normal" exposures. Because we're getting bombarded by so many man-made hazards in the food we eat, in building materials or in our other technical advancements, it behooves us to eliminate unnecessary radiation. Even in dentistry I refuse to take the recommended number of X-rays. And I'll tell you this, each time I have had major dental work, it was right after these X-rays were taken and the X-ray didn't diagnose any problems. So what good are they?

7. Security in Orlando is a nightmare
When you walk into the airport, you spot this huge, churning mass of humanity and then you realize it's the security line. I can't imagine it could get much worse.

8. We have a ton of people that fly into/out of MCO at work
During the summer is the worst of course, but if you fly out of MCO on the 3 or 4pm flights it's better than the 5pm flight on a Friday. I had a guy that was flying DFW - MCO every week from May to August, that was his final say.
