The news story we all knew was coming.
If the Repubs win the House, then Barack Obama will have no choice but to work with them. People are tired of the gridlock in Washington. They want the Republicans and the President to work together.
And they have just the perfect starting place. The Bush taxcuts!
The Repubs want to make the taxcuts for the wealthy permanent. The President wants to extend them for the middle class and let them expire for millionaires and billionaires. So they will search for a "compromise". How about we extend them for two years? Isn't that a fair compromise?
The President will be pressured to go along with the Repubs. It will do nothing to help our economy. It will add hundreds of billions of dollars to our already monstrous debt burden. Common sense would tell him to veto such an idea. But will he?
Most likely, the Democratic Party will have less members agreeing with the Republicans because most of those will be the victims in the next election. The President may have a minority in the Congress but they will be on his side.
The media will play this story over and over to make it appear the Democrats are the ones causing the obstruction. But let them. The President should sign nothing that does harm to our country or our fragile economy. The Bush taxcuts is the wrong place to begin to look for bi-partisanship but the Repubs are obsessed about it.

They're also talking about Republicans compromising by... |
|
...cutting off tax cuts at $500,000 or a million, instead of $250,000. That's something the prez might go along with.

5. The MSM gave the GOP CPR in 2004 and 2008. |
|
It is in their best interest to have the controversies created (or fabricated) by non-issues created by the MSM itself.
Controversy keeps the sheeple interested and that is what sells newsprint and air time.

8. You've got that right. The MSM is all about making money, not informing the public. |
|
They target the most sensational talking points and run with them. The bigger their audience, the more they can charge for advertising.

6. If we and the Repubs are truly concerned about the debt, we could cut 25%-35% |
|
if we did not extend any of the tax. You know the Repubs aren't really serious about the debt-they created most of it to begin with and the media has not done its job in holding them accountable for their hypocrisy.

7. I am sick of the whole darn thing. I think also that |

I loathe the media more than I do the mean, lying, selfish Republicans. They twist everything to their advantage. I get most of my information now from DU. Each time I try to watch any of the cable or national news I become ill. The negative crap the media give us makes me throw up. Never in all my years have I seen a country in such trouble.

I don't know the last time I watched the news on tv.
Most of my information comes from DU and other sources on the internet.
Our media is a joke...

14. I've felt this way for a long time. What will it |
|
be like in a few years for my grandchildren? They are growing up with this crap being flung at them all the time. I hate the term the media is using about "measuring drapes for the White House" and how Boehner will be Speaker of the House, etc. There needs to be a more ferocious media watchdog.

That kicks it to the 2012 elections. Charlie Brown as place kicker and Lucy holding the political football.

the Republicans to work with the President. Their first and most important goal, more important than bringing jobs or even defending our shores, is to make Obama a one term president.

This will be the move to the right the Blue Dogs/New Democrats/Third Wayers will have been waiting for. And, just like Bill Clinton before him, O will oblige them some of their worst, most damaging wishes. And the People will get another royal screwing over.
