Rand Paul "head smashing" incident is the "Macaca" moment of this election. |
|
Edited on Wed Oct-27-10 10:20 AM by McCamy Taylor
Women already tend to distrust the GOP on grounds of reproductive freedom and gender discrimination. This incident ought to be shown far and wide to show just how much the new crop of Republicans hate women. Remember that women tend to vote for the Democrat, and if more women are mobilized to get out to vote, the Dems do better.
Come on NOW. Surely you can put together an ad and find some sponsors.

1. This will NOT affect the elections... |
|
...if the MSM continue their blockout of this issue!
It's pathetic. There is video of this incident--very incendiary video.
CNN hasn't mentioned this situation AT ALL and it is horribly unfair!!!
They won't even report on it.
This is an editorial decision IN FAVOR of the tea party and the Republicans. They are protecting them, so close to an election.
So, this is no "Macaca" moment. That moment was televised. This is being hidden in a cave!

22. Thanks for the link...but there is a problem |
|
Edited on Wed Oct-27-10 12:28 PM by CoffeeCat
I appreciate the link, and to put it in context--this link is nowhere on CNN's front page.
There is no front-page story. There are at least twenty five CNN stories on the left side of their front page. The head-stomping story is not one of them. You can't find this story if you go to CNN, without specifically searching for it.
In fact, there is a big story on the tea party--complete with a big picture. It is one of the main articles on CNN's front page, and it is a long article. There is no mention of the foot-stomping in that article. CRAZY.
I haven't watched CNN since this morning--but this story is not visible. It is not a major story and it is barely mentioned.
I'm glad they at least have a link, but it is not visible or prominent on their page.
MSNBC is covering the story. Pat Buchanan even denounced those thug actions.
CNN and other MSM are covering for the tea party. You can damn well bet that there is a great deal of Republican pressure on the MSM, telling them to not cover that story so close to the election, because it could taint the views of the Republicans within a week to the election. I'm sure they're arguing that it would be unfair.
Oh please--to that nonsense!

It'll be a non-issue by the end of the week.

3. A lot depends on how much coverage it's getting in Kentucky. |
|
National coverage won't be as much of an influence. But, how the Kentucky media handles it could be very important. I haven't really checked, so I have no idea what's going on there on this topic.

It is too late in the game for it to have any real resonance nationally ... It COULD effect Kentucky, but ... I can't say because I am not there ...
I do agree with the poster that the MSM is going to do radio silence on it mostly ... They are trying to cruise the Rs to victory, and this does not serve that purpose, obviously ...
If it was the Ds who had someone in handcuffs in Alaska and now this incident, you can know for darn sure they would be on it HOT and heavy ...

11. I did a quick search of a few newspaper sites in KY. |
|
The major papers are covering it, but the smaller papers seem to be ignoring it. I didn't look at all of them, of course, but it doesn't seem to be a story that's getting major statewide coverage, I'm afraid.

the amount of overt racism in the statements of many of these Republican candidates. Media does not cover it.

10. It's not being reported. Apparently the only thing that's ever news worthy is |
|
when a handful of tea baggers congregate to wave their misspelled signs or if Sarah Palin tweets something. Conversely, a liberal woman getting her head stomped by Rand Paul fascist thugs isn't 'news' apparently.

However, people are too concerned about how "angry voters" will change Congress to give a damn.
It's a lot easier for the press to adopt the meme that Mr. Obama has failed instead of focusing on the violence perpetrated in this election. If the MSM truly paid attention to this incident, it would be a game changer because Americans care about their freedom of speech more than anything. Citizens of this country hate to have their personal expression suppressed.
That's why the media has been "underwhelmed" in reporting this incident. They have to keep propping up the RW come rain or come shine.

20. Disagree, sadly. I'm in KY and watching print and cyber comments-- |
|
The tea party element was and is strong. Probably around 50% of those who comment justify the 'stomper'. The article comments to the article in the Lexington paper are typical. Ugh, ugh, ugh.
