First John Bolton, now Bedbugs !!!!

UNITED NATIONS — There are a few emissaries at U.N. headquarters that won't be able to count on diplomatic immunity: bedbugs.

Bed bug sniffing dogs twice this month found evidence of the insects in furniture in two U.N. buildings, and the furniture was moved to unoccupied areas of the complex to be fumigated, Martin Nesirky, spokesman for the Secretary-General, said Wednesday.

Infestations by the tiny reddish-brown critters have become increasingly common in New York City over the past three years, with an outbreaks reported in a Times Square movie theater, stores, luxury apartment buildings and even the office of U.S. radio show host Howard Stern of Sirius XM Radio.

While New York City has been called the epicenter of the outbreak, infestations have been reported in hotels and apartment buildings nationwide. ...........(more)

6. Yes. It is the only effective way to find them.
Ask me anything - I attended a seminar on bedbugs last Thursday.

2. So the UN has traded up, eh?
Which reminds me of the old joke: Why does New York have so many lawyers? Because New Jersey had first pick and took the rats.

5. When I was in Ohio last month. my relatives were complaining
Edited on Wed Oct-27-10 05:48 PM by stopbush
about the bedbug infestations in Columbus and elsewhere.

One SIL suggested that bedbugs came from "those dirty Mexicans coming across the border." My brother thought that maybe "they came from the French visiting the country."

"Geez guys," said I, "from my perspective in California, it looks pretty much like bedbugs come from...Ohio."

7. You can not fumigate active bedbugs.
Heat/high temperature is the only thing that kills them.

9. Put your clothes in the drier on high for about 20 minutes. That should do it.

11. Its hard to get luggage or a mattress in a dryer.
Also, it would ruin your shoes, ipods, cell phones, etc.

But about clothes you are correct - 30 minutes at greater than 114 degrees.
