I know plenty, PLENTY, of people that are actually racist and militant. A few in my extended family, even. No, they can't be reasoned with--but they can be kept in check from spewing their filth at family gatherings by shunning.

They are not evil--but their actions and willful ignorance are.

What makes me better is that I and the overwhelming majority of others on this board would not for a moment consider taking up arms or beating the crap out of them.

The vast majority of DUers just would not. Stop it--stop saying that "we're just like them."

Willfully, stupidly, demonstrably stupid thing to say.

EDIT: The percentage of nutjob racist/militant true believer types I know of is MUCH higher than 1%, but I do live in Arizona so...
