Election? There's an election coming?
In our house (other than reading DU), it's hard to know there's an election coming. How's that possible?

Two easy "fixes"

1. phone is on permanent "mute"..It blinks if there's a call, and I occasionally check the caller ID for numbers/names I recognize

2. We DVR almost EVERYTHING, and then whiz through ALL commercials...especially political ones. I can watch Mika & Joe's Funhouse in about 45 minutes:)

We quit taking the paper years ago, and the political mailing crap goes directly into a trash can that some kind soul placed next to the mailbox kiosk in our neighborhood.

No one in our neighborhood ever puts signs in their yards either.

We have our sample ballots all filled out, and next Tuesday should be a snap for us.

1. Even cheaper than "caller ID" ... an answering machine.
Don't answer the phone when you don't recognize the caller. Let your friends and family know you will pick up the phone for someone you know. (Wife is physically challenged, so people who know us know that she can't "run" to answer the phone).

And you can always delete the messages as soon as you hear it's something you don't want to hear.

3. When it's family, and I can get to the phone quickly (or if the wife has the phone near her)
I answer. Even my RW brother (he's stopped his political discussions and e-mails).
