Democrat Jerry Brown has amassed a 10-point lead in the California governor's race over Republican Meg Whitman, whose negative ratings have reached record levels despite her spending $162 million in the largest self-funded campaign in American history, a new Field Poll shows.

With election day on Tuesday, Brown holds a 49 to 39 percent lead over the former eBay CEO in the race, with 5 percent of voters favoring other candidates and 7 percent undecided, the poll showed. The Field poll last month showed the two candidates in a virtual tie.

"I don't think voters have warmed up to Meg Whitman," said Field Poll director Mark DiCamillo.

2. How embarrassing is it that nutcases like Angle and Paul might win
but Whitman, even after dumping a bazillion dollars of her OWN MONEY into this campaign is still losing.

She really ought to be ashamed of herself.

The first time I saw her I knew she didn't have a chance of getting elected, then when I started hearing her ads, I was convinced.

14. Prop 8 sort of counters that argument...
Also Arnold, Prop 13, the real estate bubble, Pete Wilson, Duke Cunningham and so forth. So smart!

15. It's amazing what self centered greedy people will do to gain power.
I've only been on this planet for 37 years. I swear the older I get the more I notice the pure greed in these people.

5. The only good thing to say about her is that
she poured a lot of money into the economy, with her astronomical campaign spending.

6. "I don't think voters have warmed up to Meg Whitman"
I think Whitman is very glad that Mr. DiCamillo doesn't work for her campaign. I wonder what kind of take-home he gets for such blindingly obvious pronoucements?

16. Understatement of the year.
I live in Sonoma, a community of mostly repubs with a good many Dems. There is no in-between.

And there are no Whitman signs anywhere.

She even got her ass kicked out of the Sonoma Farmers' Market on Tuesday before last.

11. If she were likable and had came across a sincerely concerned about
the nation and its people, she would not have had to spend so much money. I was delighted that that women's group booed her. these R women candidates should realize that their womanhood does not mean that they represent women's interest.

13. R's think they only have to nominate a woman to get women's votes.
They didn't learn that lesson with Palin.

And they still won't after Whitman and Fiorina bomb out.

17. She even got kicked out of our Farmers Market last week.
Man, no one likes that woman.

I am in Sonoma, a mostly repub town. But we all manage to get along, somehow.

There are no Whitman signs to be found here.

10. Unfortunately (in this case fortunately) image has a lot to do with how people vote
and Meg Whiteman's smiles and public persona comes across as staged/phony. She looks like a sourpuss trying to act friendly.

With the voters who pay close attention to politics and have commonsense, its a no-brainer Meg Whitman is ¡No Bueno!

12. I'm not surprised.
The woman is synonymous with greed, corruption and lack of empathy. She's a cross between Arnold and W. put together. Anyone would be a fool to let this woman run California with credentials like that.

Money doesn't buy class.
