...then FDR would not become President until June 2012.
(FDR was sworn in 3 years and 5 months after the crash of October 1929. Inauguration Day used to be in March, IIRC.)
Doesn't mean anything in particular but it's interesting to think about, history-wise.

in the Internet and television age, so we got President Obama elected in a compressed period of time. My guess is that with that compression, on Tuesday, we're going to see the equivalent of 1946, where the Repukes made some big gains after Roosevelt and Truman had done what was needed to win WWII and get the US out of the Depression.
