Anthony Weiner: Daily Kos GOTV: Stand Up for What You Believe
Note: I'll be joining the conversation in the comments for the next half hour. Let me know if you have something on your mind.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/10/28/914398/-Daily-Kos-GOTV:-Stand-Up-for-What-You-Believe

No one said it was going to be easy to keep Congress out of Republican hands on November 2.

They're spending millions in special interest money. They've got a 24/7 in free advertisement on Fox News. They've pulled out all the stops to try and undo all the work we've put in the last two years.

In fact, it kind of reminds me of the health care fight. We had all the facts on our side. We had a majority in both houses of Congress. Still, they sincerely believed that hundreds of millions in TV ads and lobbying could stop us.

But we refused to yield. And, thanks to all of you, we prevailed.

We passed the most ambitious health care reform in half a century. We made insurance more affordable to hardworking families. We ended the worst insurance company abuses.

The Republicans said it would be our demise. Instead, it was one of our greatest victories.

Now we face a similar moment. Everyone is saying Democrats can't hold onto the House of Representatives on November 2. Republicans are too well-funded. They are too organized. People are too unhappy.

But the problem isn't their millions. And it's not a few Tea Party extremists who aren't getting clear signals from the mother ship.

The only problem is making sure we get every person who cares about our future to get out and vote on November 2.

It's not just enough for each of us to go to the polls next Tuesday. We've got to make sure that each and every person we know understands the stakes of this election.

So talk to your friends, your family. Heck, even talk to a few of your enemies. Because this is bigger than any of us. Aggressive get-out-the-vote campaigns is how we'll win this on Tuesday.

Click here to make a contribution to my campaign and ensure we have the resources we need in the final 5 days before Election Day.

Remember, it's not just about Democrats and Republicans. It's about how middle class families are going to do better next year than they did this year. It's about whether we're going to leave programs like Social Security and Medicare stronger for our children. It's about whether we're going to protect health care and financial reform. Or whether Republicans will roll back everything we've worked for this past two years.

And make no mistake. They will. They've already pledged to repeal health care. And many top Republicans are talking about frightening plans like gambling your Social Security in the stock market.

Look, I live by a simple principle. You stand up for what you believe in.

Now is a time to stand up. If you help get people to the polls, it will be the most important thing you can do.

DailyKos readers spend a lot of time discussing specific issues. And the intelligence and enthusiasm you bring is a breath of fresh air to someone like me who has to deal with Washington hot air every day of the week.

But this Tuesday isn't about any one issue. It's about a single choice: will we be a country where middle class folks can succeed and get ahead, where those struggling to make it have a chance to reach the middle class? Or will we be a country where rich powerbrokers can buy their way no matter the cost to everyone else?

Time and time again all of you have stood up in defense of the right choice. Now I'm asking you to stand up again. And this time, it's for all the marbles.

Ignore the bleak predictions. Ignore the hype. Just roll up your sleeves and get down to work.

It won't be easy. But people in this country need someone to fight for them on November 2. They're counting on us.

1. Love the guy, but hate his analogy to the health care fight as a win for anyone...
but the corporations.

Between the Blue Dog DLCers and the Party of No, we haven't had any REAL victories... yet.
