If I may be allowed to brag just a little....
After three years writing the first draft, then four years of polishing, rewrites, and table reads, my play gets its first production in December. The audition notices went out not too long ago.

As posted on the theater's Facebook page:

Auditions for our upcoming production of Bearding the Lyons will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at 7:30 pm and Monday, November 1, 2010 at 7:30 pm.

The director, Les Guglielmi, is looking for men and women aged 20's to 50's to cast in the show.

AUDITIONS will be held at Cumberland Players, located on Sherman Avenue and the Boulevard in Vineland. Doors will open both evenings at 7:00 PM with auditions to begin at 7:30PM. Call backs will be on Monday. Auditions will be cold readings from the script of "Bearding The Lyons".

SHOW DATES for this special production will be December 17th and 18th at 8:00 PM. Please be sure to check your calendar to be sure you are available for both dates before auditioning.

About the play:

BEARDING THE LYONS
By Pab Sungenis

Cumberland Players is pleased to present the world premiere of this new farce.

Matthew Lyons has invited his family to meet his boyfriend, Jared. However, when they encounter his friend and neighbor Debbie, they assume that she is the lover he has invited them to meet, and she assumes that the favor Matt intends to ask her is not to cook dinner for everyone, but to act as his "beard" and pretend she is really his girlfriend so his parents don't find out that he's gay.

The confusion that follows contains all the elements of a traditional farce with a decidedly gay twist: slamming doors, innuendo and double entendre, romance, mistaken identities, and a climax designed to leave the audience rolling in the aisles.

All ticket sales from this show will benefit the Cumberland Players Building and Maintenance Fund.

I'm so thrilled. This has been a long time in the making. My friend Brett Fauver had been the person who had helped me through the original workshop process and had originally proposed to direct the show himself when it was approved by the theater's board last year. Tragically, he succumbed to cancer on New Year's Eve, and the theater decided to go forward with a Lifetime Member taking the director's reins.

2. Congratulations! That's really awesome, I just wish NJ wasn't as far from here
as a state can be. When it goes on the road, can you bring the show to CA next?

20. You're now a playwrite!
You need to change your first name to a state or something.

Don't pick Tennessee, that's already been taken.

Congrats!
