Talking about how Democrats have their heads in the clouds regarding compromise with Republicans. Will Democrats take heed though....

...well, you do have to remember we are still in the campaign, and if Republicans say "Oh sure, we'll work with the president", their party base will stay home and not vote.
However, if the GOP is serious about "no compromise" on anything, they will fall on their asses very quickly. Anybody with one iota of intelligence knows that compromise is the key to governing.
The Democrats are probably being realistic by saying they're willing to compromise knowing full-well the GOP will have to do so should they win one or both houses of Congress.

4. ... the GOP hasn't compromised for the past 2 years ... |
|
... why would losing even more seats this cycle give them any reason to start?

9. But they've been in the minority.... |
|
...and it's politically-expedient (and perhaps wise) to oppose the governing party's agenda.
I'm not defending the Rethugs, trust me, I despise them more than you do. However, if these morons want to continue securing federal funds for their pork-barrel projects in the constituencies, they're going to have to work with the president and the Democratic leadership in the Senate (assuming we still have a majority there).

I have to say, we're better off without Harry Reid. I don't care if that's PI on this site but it's true. How can the man so obtuse.

I don't want Kerry...too much 2004 baggage. Whoever our new leader in the Senate is, he or she needs to understand that the Republicans' main objective isn't bipartisanship, it's "making sure Obama is a one-term president."

13. Kerry is a fine Senator.... |
|
...but having him as our leader in the Senate may not go over so well with the public. People will see him as an "D.C. insider" and a "relic of the past." We want present an attractive alternative to Mitch McConnell. Obviously, I'll take Kerry over McConnell any day of the week, but I don't know if the average American would.

Excuse the laughter and snarky tone. :hi: Maybe it's from all the Dem bashing.
IMO, I prefer Durbin. He would work very well with President Obama. A lot of articles have been pushing Schumer, but he is not very trustworthy like Durbin, and he is a DLC snake that needs to be put in check.

11. I think that Harry Reid.... |
|
...is trying to show Nevadans that he is "reasonable"....trying to show that he is willing to work with the Republicans while the Republicans have made it clear they will NOT work with the Democrats.
Harry Reid knows full well that the Republicans don't want to work with him....look at how they've been the last 2 years. I'm okay with getting a new Senate leader, but I still wish that Reid holds onto his seat to preserve our majority and prevent Sharron "Fuck Autistics" Angle from becoming a senator.
