|
gay service people, according to the majority of those surveyed. This was revealed by NBC's Richard Engel, in a discussion with Rachel Maddow, just a few minutes ago.

2. I was hoping the survey would prove as much. |
|
The slanted way it was written I'm surprised at this result. Happy but surprised.

3. No real surprise considering other surveys have shown similar things over the years |
|
Other surveys have shown among other things that repealing DADT would have minimal effect on military recruiting/reenlistment, because few would refuse to join the army/serve over a DADT repeal, and for those few who would refuse there's just as many who say they wouldn't join the army today because of DADT.

7. Sounds like they'll have to re-do the poll then. |

Until it shows the "right" answer.

who said this survey was a sham designed to save DADT eat a little humble pie here.
Being in the military for most of the last 20 years, I knew that this was the most likely result of the study.

10. I truly thought that a fair questionaire would show |
|
That most service members would prefer that gay members could tell the truth rather than be mandated to lie.
However, when I read the survey questions I couldn't help but think that they lead open-minded people to answer in a somewhat negative way.
I must say that it is disgraceful that EVERYONE knows that gays are serving in the military but TPTB (The Powers That Be) are questioning whether or not to repeal a law that mandates those service members lie to their comrades to keep their job. Absolute trust in the person standing next to you would seem to be more important than sexuality in a military situation.

11. Just because current service members are more evolved than my buddies in the 80s |
|
doesn't prove any legitimacy on the survey itself. It's insulting to even conduct it. It was worded in the most insulting ways. It was given to spouses, for crying out loud. No other minority group has been subjected to this kind of "comfort level guage" survey in the military as we just were. It's very existence and commission is insulting, despite the results.
There is no humble pie to eat. The service members who currently serve are smart and with it, and their answers make me proud of them. The survey is still insulting, and is still a sham.
