Pensacola Gregg will no longer be sharing videos of tarballs on the beach
Edited on Thu Oct-28-10 09:30 PM by Generic Other
I have been watching his daily walks on the beach at Pensacola since the oil washed in there last June. I have posted many of them on DU as have others. The man filmed 60+ videos of tarballs on the beach. He lost his job for refusing to quit. He got sick with elevated chemicals in his blood consistent with corexit contamination. He angered those who wanted to proclaim Pensacola beaches clean. He annoyed the powers that be. And now he has removed his videos due to being pressured. He couldn't afford to keep filming if it was going to effect his livelihood, his health and his family's wellbeing.

The only trace of the videos are the captions/transcripts I posted with them in DU archives. That and the lingering tarballs on the beaches. Anyway, I thought I'd share.

Come Take A Walk With Me Or Remain A Coward - Gulf Oil Spill Pensacola Beach October 22 2010
I am calling out every so called environmentally conscious celebrity, environmental groups, politicians - ANYONE who has the guts to come down and see the truth FOR YOURSELF - If you are satisfied with being spoon fed lies and propaganda then stay home and drink your Koolaide like a good little sheep but if you REALLY want to see how deep the rabbit hole goes then give me a call or email me and come see REALITY....

Take Handcuffs Off And We Can Clean Oil From Beaches Says Clean Up Supervisor October 21, 2010
Here I am speaking to a clean up supervisor about the "no digging" rule, he says "remove the handcuffs restricting us from digging and we can clean up the oil"

BP stops cleaning : what Pensacola Beach looks like 10/17 !!!
I took a walk from the first parking lot in Fort Pickens towards the Ranger Station to the east - The area in the video is a couple hundred yards west of the Ranger Station and as you can see it is absolutely horrible right on the surface and at the end of the video I am showing you that I can kick up the tar and oil with my feet. Incredible that NO ONE GIVES A DAMN...

I will continue to do what I can but as of this week I am going back to work and take care of those closest to me. I have done all I can do to wake people up and the fact that our local government is allowing this bullshit to go on should be enough to have everyone up in arms BUT IT IS NOT...

clean-up workers done: Pensacola Beach Large Mats Of Oil And Tar 10/15
I used my speed square to dig around and reveal these large mats of tar and oil on Pensacola Beach in the National Park - Barring a miracle this weekend this may be the last of my regular reporting for awhile... I have to figure some things out and the promises people have made aren't coming through.

Please make sure people know that the entire island here from the Pensacola Pass through Navarre Beach still has oil under the sand and it is not getting cleaned up because of the "no digging" policy.

Beach Clean Up Worker Says "They Took Our Shovels, Won't Let Us Dig"

For Columbus Day today I decided since I do not celebrate mass murderer day that I would start at the other end of Santa Rosa Island near Navarre Beach and see what I could discover myself. I covered 17 miles of the beach going west into the Fort Pickens park before my camera battery died. I am in the process of uploading all of the video at True Reporting On Gulf Oil Disaster but it may take a couple of days. I am uploading some short excerpts in the meantime where workers state, "they took our shovels away". When you listen to the workers interacting with me in the video reports you will know it is not the workers who are holding back but someone else.

Every worker and every supervisor I talked to today I asked, "Who is behind the six inch rule?" No one could tell me. A wildlife officer for the National Park gave me a lame answer about the nesting turtles. I said', "So it's better for them to lay their eggs in toxins?" He had nothing to say in return.

When the oil and tar deposits on the beaches are shown to be as deep as 30 inches here on Pensacola Beach, how can our government stand by and allow this 6 inch rule to be in place? How are our beaches supposed to be returned to pristine condition when the workers are not allowed to clean up the oil?

I spoke to another supervisor today who told me that the "recon teams" had found an area about 100 yards from where we were standing that was 14 feet in diameter and 3-4 inches thick around 18 inches below the beach surface. According to him BP officials were there and ordered them to fill it back in.

These are the events that are going on here everyday unnoticed not only by the world but even by my very own neighbors. It is incredibly frustrating to try to get the truth out and to have so few standing with you.

BP Contract Worker Spills All - Never Before Told Stories
This man I am interviewing contacted me because he had some things he needed to get out to clear his conscience. I was even surprised at some of the things he said .

I know this video is longer than any I have ever done before but it is critical that
this information get out please spread it everywhere and help me do this. THIS is NEVER BEFORE HEARD information from a recently released BP Contract Worker who worked from Panama City to The Florida Alabama Line

Beach Clean Up Workers Find Buckets Of Oil And Tar With No Shovels 10/7
After filming around Ariola on the East end of Pensacola Beach, I headed back west past where I live and into the edge of the Fort Pickens National Park.

Before heading on the beach I saw my friend that I grew up fishing with who runs this particular crew, he told me that they had just emptied 48 buckets of oil and tar right before I arrived and that he had taken the shovels from his crew to prevent them from digging to deep and risking losing their contract.

He also said that BP had been out with them trying to determine where the oil deposits were and how deep, etc. I gave him my number and told him to have them call me and that I would be happy to show them anything including the 60 plus GB of video and photos I have from the beginning of June to now.

Don't worry guys, MANY people have my files backed up in numerous locations...

We must find out who is behind this "Six Inches Maximum Depth" Policy because not only are they preventing the beach from being cleaned up, they are also risking the health of everyone in the area due to the very real possibility of the toxins to leach into the water table...

Thanks for helping get the word out.

Gregg

10. Would one of these do the trick?
http://www.amazon.com/3M-50051138215656-5101-Half-Respirator/dp/B0019D5H32

I could pick one up just for photography out there; I've been having some minor health issues lately which I assume to be related to my photo excursions (which are essentially in my front yard).

Sure, I'd look goofy, but at least I'd outlive everyone else.

11. I can't tell if it's for solvents. It should be able to filter solvents.
I'd try to find a silicone one, I think that's the least troublesome, low fumes from the mask itself.

I know they had used respirators in different areas (remember, that arm of the US Govt. called BP demanded workers NOT wear them) maybe someone here knows how to find out what kind they used?

I think it's great you would offer. I hope someone has a cam for you.

Yes, that's the sort of respirator you would use if painting with solvent based paints.
