Michael Steel: Asking Meek to quit sends chilling signal to African Americans
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele has already raised the issue of race in the matter. Mr. Steele, who is African-American, said the effort to persuade Mr. Meek, who is African-American, to quit sends a “chilling signal to all voters, but especially African Americans.”

7. chiiling signals to Democrats
republicans will push any lie . . . even those that have been disproved.

Also, some folks are inclined to take any criticism of our Democrats at face value.

8. Steele is playing Wedge Politics. The GOP taught him well.
The only reason he is doing this. Try to upset the African Americans
enough they will stay home and give Rubio a landslide.

Most important now for everyone to vote. Even if we
lose we want score on the board. Make The Gop wins close
or only a slight win. They cannot claim a mandate to
make this a Far Right Country.

9. I just love when Republicans freak out because Democrats are treating African American politicians
Edited on Fri Oct-29-10 10:32 AM by Pirate Smile
the same as they treat white politicians.

As if the issues in Florida has more to do with Meeks being Black instead of being behind in the polls. Same as with NY Gov Paterson. The White House didn't want him to run for re-election because his numbers suck and we had a different candidate we thought could win in a walk. Republicans trot out this - oohhhhh, they are trying to oppress the black man. Right, Barack Obama and Patrick Gaspard, head of the WH political office (also African-American), are trying to hurt African-American politicians.

They don't seem to "get" treating all politicians the same based on the circumstances of the specific election - which sometimes sucks.

I've seen some Republicans pushing this on Twitter as a race issue.

They chose Michael Steele because of race for RNC Chair and refused to get rid of him after he showed himself to be incompetent. That is screwed up.

They are always clueless when it comes to race EXCEPT for being experts on exploiting white resentments, fears and racism. That they know.

Another example of their cluelessness - http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=433x491875 "Fox News' Racial Sensitivity Lesson for President Obama"
