The Gore Book: Sweeping Indictment, Rousing Challenge, Massive Best-seller
by Brent Budowsky | May 22 2007

The real presidential campaign begins now with the publication of Al Gore's sweeping, passionate and uncompromising indictment of Bush, Bushism and American politics in the Bush era.

This book will be a massive and gigantic best-seller as Americans vote with their book-buying bucks. This book will have dramatic impact on the presidential campaign by setting the gold standard for what a Loyal Opposition should stand for.

If Congress again capitulates to Bush on Iraq policy, the juxtaposition of Gore's massive assault on Bushism, his criticism of Congress for not presenting authoritative opposition and current events in Washington will unleash a major groundswell in many circles of Democratic and independent politics.

This is not a book about politics. It is a book about American democracy in 2007.

10. Looking into my crystal ball I can see a Gore/Edwards ticket in the future.
:D

Diebold aside, a Gore/Edwards ticket would obliterate the repuke competition. :)

11. I'd love that ticket
Edwards would presumably be reluctant to be the running mate on someone else's ticket in general, but Gore might be the exception.

28. If he loses the primary he might
They usually take the stand that they want to be the number one, the president and they aren't interested in the second spot....that is until they lose the primary.

I think Gore/Edwards would be a fantastic ticket! Or Gore/Clark or Gore/Obama........

19. As much as I love Edwards - I think Gore/Obama would wipe out the competition.
And I really, really like John Edwards a lot more than I like Obama.

21. I'm still working on "Armed Madhouse"
It makes me so furious that I can only handle about five pages at a time. But The Assault on Reason is next on my reading list. The local independent bookstore people do a little happy dance when they see me coming.

26. I thought that part was great too!
"What you can't use them for, is as a football. Something about throwing a chicken through the air seems to wake them up quick!"

paraphrasing, but it was a LOL moment...

It is amazing how many times he brings up the IRaq- 9/11 connection. He seems really, really pissed that people still think Saadam was a part of 9/11.

Interesting, well written book. I am only in chapter 2 and gonna have to re-read it to get some of the nuances and detail. Damn he is smart.

27. There was also an awesome line about "the consent of the governed"
...being sold to the highest bidder, or something like that. It was in either the first chapter or the intro. I'll look for it on my lunch break.

Hey, we should start an official book discussion thread!

30. I watched Larry King last night for the first time in many years because
Of Al Gore. I also bought Gore's (and the Kerrys') book yesterday at a local bookseller, who has anti-Bush paraphenalia for sale, and has had such luscious items since Bush first got installed. Gore did not seem to be leaning toward the presidency last night. However, one minor point gave me some hope; that was his statement that he did not think candidates should be entering the race this early.
