I think the Gawker story was sleazy and uncalled for but where is O'Donnell getting off by claiming that Coons had anything to do with it?

Before she gets too far up on her high horse someone needs to remind her how her campaign attacked Castle's sexuality during the primary. IIRC, she not only did not apologize for it (saying it was an outside group) she continued to advance the accusation in interviews.

14. That's the most despicable part of the entire thing
The story itself was quite lame and undeserving of any attention, but the fact that she used NOW's support as cover in order to throw blame on Coons is disgusting. While I believe that addressing sexism in politics (and in general) is important, I think it is also important to make distinctions so that outrage is limited to situations where it is warranted and a person does not get support simply for having a vagina. If you bring your own sex life into the public sphere, attempt to smear one rival with an "accusation" about their sexual orientation and then turn around an accuse an innocent rival of using sexual politics against you, you are not a sympathetic figure in any way - regardless of your gender.

3. Is implied now a synonym for "stated"?

8. I didn't see the actual spot
I'm going by what I heard during the coverage and so if the spot directly said Castle is/was gay then I stand corrected.

10. I'm being a bit snarky, but not at you
Her campaign was spreading a rumor that Castle had an affair with a man.

And she also talked about it on TV.

What the campaign was doing was beyond implication but her on-air comments were more of the snide insinuation type.

No beef with the OP.

O'Donnell backer makes sex charge in Delaware race - Sept 1, 2010
Ben Smith

A conservative firm until recently employed by the Delaware primary campaign of conservative Christine O'Donnell against Rep. Mike Castle casually leveled an extraordinary — and unsupported — charge of a gay affair against Castle in a video posted to its website today, the ugliest salvo yet in an extremely bitter primary.

The newscast-style video on Liberty.com features a woman seated before a backdrop of Liberty.com's Las Vegas headquarters, criticizing Castle and praising O'Donnell.

"Isn't Mike Castle cheating on his wife with a man?" asks a voice off-screen at the 1:55 mark.

6. Her victim posture right now is surely projection
At this point, it looks like she can't win the election. So being dignified would do her a lot of good given how she's a professional candidate.

The way she's acting now is a bucketful of sound bites she's gifting to future opponents.
