Sarah Palin thinks that reading past the second sentence is for liberals and Muslims

When the State Department’s Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Philip J. Crowley tweeted this morning, “Happy birthday President Ahmadinejad. Celebrate by sending Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer home. What a gift that would be," Sarah Palin went into a tailspin. Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer are two of the three Americans who were detained and imprisoned by Iran while hiking near the Iranian border in 2009. Their companion was recently released, but Fattal and Bauer remain in an Iranian jail. While Crowley called for their release in his sardonic tweet, Sarah Palin took his words out of context in her bizarre and harsh reaction over twitter:



Apparently for Sarah Palin, calling for the release of American hostages in Iran is just another attempt by the Obama Administration to “coddle enemies.” Surely, this will feed into rightwing conspiracy theories of Dinesh D'Souza and Oliver North, among others, who believe that Obama has a deeply "anti-American" foreign policy.

(CNN) - A tweet by Sarah Palin attacking the U.S. State Department for a tweet to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on his birthday distorted the State Department's original intent, a spokesman for the department said Friday.

"My tweet was simply to suggest that a reasonable celebration of President Ahmadinejad's birthday would be to release Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal. I can't imagine why Sarah Palin would object to the release of the two hikers who remain in custody, we think inappropriately," State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said in response to a question about Palin's criticism.
