Man Busted For Waterboarding Girlfriend
Edited on Fri Oct-29-10 11:57 AM by Valienteman

OCTOBER 28--After accusing his girlfriend of cheating on him, a Nebraska man allegedly tied the woman to a couch in their apartment and waterboarded her, according to police.

Trevor Case, 22, has been charged with domestic assault, false imprisonment, and making terroristic threats in connection with the bizarre incident early Saturday morning at the Lincoln home he shared with the 22-year-old victim.

Police allege that Case stuffed "hospital socks" into Danielle Stallworth's mouth and bound her wrists with belts and hair ties before placing a shirt over her head and dousing it with water, according to a Lincoln Police Department report. “He poured a pitcher of water on her head, and she started freaking out and thought she wasn’t able to breathe,” cops noted.

The waterboarding practice, of course, leaves victims with the sensation that they are drowning.

I say let's tell this guy not to do it again. Then we move forward, not backward.

2. So, her name is Stallworth? Sounds kind of Muslim-y to me...
Guess what he did is ok, then.

3. She's been with him for 5 years, and he has previous convictions of assaulting her
Can only hope that simulated murder and actual torture is enough to convince her to dump him and move on with her life.

4. Glad to see someone in gov't admit it's a form of terrorism.
But, I guess, that really depends upon whether you have a permission slip from Michael Chertoff and John Yoo.

12. And how does that end the cycle?
I always cringe when people suggest that male rape in prison is OK because, afterall, they are in prison so "it's ok", "they deserve it", or "that's all they understand". In my opinion, encouraging this or looking the other way contributes to enforcement officers being desensitized in the first place.

As far as the guy in the story, hopefully his girlfriend will wake up and leave him and in the meantime the discussion will enter the mainstream and folks will stop and notice the inconsistent way the issue is addressed. It can't be torture if this guy does it but not torture if some other guy does it and the difference between them is the CIA access badge and security clearance. Right?

15. Oh jesusfuckingchrist! If you couldn't see that this was "metaphorically...........
...........speaking", then I don't know of you will ever "get it". We fucking "breed" cruelty into our military personnel and our law enforcement people. His girlfriend will leave him? Don't bet on it. You better get yourself a little dirty by getting involved in the "little peoples" lives to really see what is going on. You need to take off your blinders and really SEE what the fuck is going on today in the police depts and prisons.

19. Metaphorically?
If so, it certainly wasn't obvious in your post, yet you jumped on the reply as if it was.

I find the widespread acceptance of prison rape to be disgusting. Your post indicated that you find it humorous, or at least OK, if the victim is a bad guy.

21. Metaphor?
Webster Green summed it well.

I didn't read the post as a metaphor. I read it as endorsing prison rape. I believe that the culture which views prison rape as suitable or effective punishment is the same culture that rationalizes torture as long as there's a "good reason". Ultimately the problem is with the culture being desensitized to torture. I believe where we differ is that I think guards looking the other way on prison rape is equivalent to the military using torture techniques.

"this motherfucker ought to be put in a cell with Juan and Willie and taught what REAL (male) torture is."

Advocating rape in prison is not funny and no, he doesn't "deserve it".

He claimed that a scratch on his chest occurred while "wrestling with a friend."
Oh, so HE'S the one who was cheating!

When the couple's young daughter awoke and came into the living room, "the situation calmed down."
They're twenty-two with a child old enough to get out of bed? Get Bristol Palin on the phone--we've got ourselves another teen parenthood endorsement!

16. It will be interesting to see this play out
over the trial and the media. If he is convicted, it will make a case for arresting those who tortured alleged "terrorists" at Gitmo and other places, and maybe have civil trials.

If he isn't convicted, will those who tortured in the name of the government no longer have to worry about those charges?
