Poll question: Raise your hand if you've been called or visited by a canvasser for a Democratic campaign |
|
I have not, but I've called people in upstate New York and in Nevada for the Democrats and MoveOn. I'm just wondering if the work Democrats and their supporters are putting into this election is having a real impact on voters. How much contact are they making?
I'm interested in real person to real person contacts, not robocalls.

It would be more enjoyable to slam down the phone on a real person from a Repub campaign. |
|
Was the Dem call from a real person? Were they trying to get out the vote for look for volunteers? Was it a local person or a MoveOn rep from out of state?

10. Dem call was a real person doing GOTV. Local volunteer, who said |
|
I made her day with my enthusiastic response. Four members of my family will go vote together, followed by a meal. No enthusiasm gap here. I've probably slammed the phone down on at least 10 Repuke robo calls.

It's very hard to volunteer because you're worried about the election and hear nothing but NO. It feels good to be rewarded.

2. I'm having coffee with Linda Sanchez tomorrow! |
|
I hope to get pictures:) We'll see how it goes... I'm generally not shy about such things.
It's in a private home, I believe, so it should be... dare I say... AWESOME!
Calls, emails, greeted on the street, the whole deal. I live in a gated community, so it's unlikely they'd knock on my door.

12. I haven't seen any polls on her... |
|
Her sister seems to be getting a lot more press, what with the stinky scratch and sniff deal her opponent sent out. Ridiculousness.
I'll be sure to ask though.

4. Yesterday - a really nice man. He didn't want to phone so volunteered to |
|
distribute Dem literature house to house.
I told him to keep it, we've already voted All Dem, but he had a clipboard and said "I just have to ask, did you vote for Inslee and Murray?" I just started laughing and so did he. :7 We chatted a bit and I didn't have time to ask how many people he was able to contact.

5. last night, a wonderful real person for the Democrats called and we had a fine discussion |
|
She was very brave, considering this is puke country. I guess I was the needed break - because we're voting blue!
All I've gotten from the pukes is robo-calls

For the Dems, I was calling nothing but Repubs in upstate NY and some of them were surprisingly friendly and open to voting for the Dems.

|
Dem!
Ask if we planned to vote early.
YES, which we did this morning.
Straight Dem ticket! :bounce:

19. I have, but the robocalls are ticking me off. I hate them hate them |
|
hate them. Why do they continue to pester us? Too many, every day. But did have one phone call from a real person for the Dems, one person came to my door for a Dem candidate (and I was a little offended that she was not asking about all the Dem candidates but all that work for just one. I always have literature and talk about all of the candidates on the Dem slate).
Oh, and one call from the College Repugs with a poll about who I would like to see as the presidential candidate in 2012. I told them Palin. Serves them right to call me!

20. We should get no robocall pledges from candidates before the primaries. |
|
Of course that would open up the Repubs to play dirty robocall tricks

21. I can only imagine what the Repugs would do with that pledge. |
|
And I really wouldn't mind a robocall that was meant to set the record straight in cases of abuses by the other side. But enough of vote for me on Tuesday! I know I know---there just are not enough of us who will volunteer to make personal calls, and the robocalls are so much more efficient. Well, maybe not. Prior to the presidential primary, I was still in a toss up as to which candidate to vote for. After five calls on Saturday from one of my choices, and none from the other, my decision was made. Not what they had expected the result would be.

23. Not one, not once, not ever. |
|
It's been almost three years here in the Stockton ghetto, and I've seen no one. We have a blue dog rep that hardly ever gets a challenge, and no way someone from the Boxer campaign is knocking on my door.
Kind of a shame. I've spent time in other states working and volunteering for the Dems, but in California, it all seems so big that there is no retail politics.

25. Around here it's not unusual to see the candidate at your door. |
|
Hasn't happened yet this year but I have had a canvasser at my door and have recieved two calls from real people.
During the primaries one of the candidates for U.S. Congress called and left a message with his personal cell # in case I wanted to ask him any questions.

Three or four live calls--who am I voting for, reminding me about early voting, etc.
Then there are the robocalls, perhaps a dozen.
None for repubs. All for dems. (Lots of campaign lit in the mailbox, too.)
